Job summary

PENANG AUTOMATION CLUSTER SDN BHD seeks a supervisor to oversee sheet metal precision fabrication, including laser cutting, bending, turret punching, and welding. You will guide staff performance, set job expectations, and ensure adherence to safety, quality, and delivery targets.

The role requires strong coaching and process improvement capabilities within a manufacturing setting. You will coordinate with cross-functional teams, enforce policies, manage machine utilization, and drive on-time

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, or related disciplines.
• Possess knowledge and minimum 5 years hands on experience in managing sheet metal operations.
• Possess any skill of sheet metal e.g. programming of laser cut, bending or welding.
• Prior management experience or background in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• To supervise the sheet metal precision fabrication consist of laser cut, bending, turret punch, welding and other related operations.
• To accomplish department staff results by communicating job expectations, planning, monitoring, and appraising job results.
• To act as coach to guide and counsel staff’s performance & discipline and also to develop staff’s growth opportunities.
• To coordinate and enforce company systems, policies, procedures, and productivity standards.
• To attend the project briefing and meeting in the absent of the superior by managing the sheet metal production Quality and On-Time Delivery (OTD) performances.
• To be responsible for the machine utilization with well planning of machines auto operate functioning.
• To ensure fabrications processes are carried out in accordance with specified requirements.
• To understand and ensure no deviation of customers specifications in engineering drawing.
• To be accountable for overall production safety-at-work disciplines.
• To improve fabrication time & skills for laser cut machinists, bender, welder and other operators by providing proper training in order to achieve craftsmanship culture.
• To maintain proper housekeeping and line discipline at all times in the shopfloor.
• To be responsible for the cost control of raw materials, new tools purchase and supporting processes services.
• To assist superior to liaise with customers and Outgoing Quality Assurance (OQA) division for any quality rejects and to take necessary corrective action.
• To highlight to the superior if there is any cost impact due to defective parts being produced.
• To coordinate and liaise with other machining department in order to complete the job by fulfilling customer requirement.
• To work with cross-functional teams on improvement or kaizen projects.
• To perform any other duties assigned by supervisor or manager from time to time.
