Job summary

NSK Grocer in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Purchasing Executive to support and manage buying, procurement and merchandising across multiple stores. You will help ensure competitive product assortments, strong supplier partnerships, and healthy inventory levels, while assisting new store openings.

The role requires a diploma or degree in business/retail or related field and about 2–6 years in buying or retail operations. Travel to stores may be required and Mandarin ability is a plus.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Business, Retail, Supply Chain or related field.
• Approximately 2–6 years of relevant experience in buying, merchandising, procurement or retail operations.
• Experience within supermarket, grocery, FMCG or related retail environments.
• Good understanding of product sourcing, pricing, inventory and supplier coordination.
• Strong negotiation, analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and coordination with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
• Commercially minded with understanding of sales, margin and inventory.
• Proficiency in Mandarin will be an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Support and/or manage product sourcing, selection and assortment planning for assigned categories.
• Manage SKU listing, pricing, promotions and product range.
• Monitor sales performance, stock levels, stock turnover, OOS situations and product trends.
• Analyze category and SKU performance to support buying and commercial decisions.
• Review and recommend improvements to product assortment, pricing and promotional strategies.
• Liaise with suppliers on product availability, pricing, ordering and delivery schedules.
• Support or lead negotiations on pricing, rebates, promotional support and trading terms.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while identifying new products and sourcing opportunities.
• Conduct market research, competitor checks and pricing comparisons.
• Support and/or lead product and assortment planning for new store openings.
