Job summary

INFICON Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Sourcing Engineer – Mechanical to identify and qualify suppliers for mechanical components, driving RFQ/RFP management and total-cost analysis ahead of production release.

The role partners with Production Engineering and Quality during NPI to secure capable mechanical suppliers and support cost-reduction initiatives. Based in Shah Alam, the successful candidate will lead global/regional sourcing, negotiate terms, conduct PPAP/APQP, manage supplier

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Minimum of 5 years in strategic sourcing, supplier development, or supplier quality in mechanical engineering/manufacturing.
• Experience leading RFQ/RFP processes, supplier negotiations, and supplier qualification (PPAP/APQP) for mechanical components.
• Experience in global or regional sourcing and supplier risk management is advantageous.
• Experience sourcing electronic or electro-mechanical components is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Identify, evaluate, and qualify new mechanical component suppliers through market research and RFQ/RFP processes.
• Lead supplier selection based on cost, quality, capacity, technology, and risk; negotiate pricing, payment terms, and long-term supply agreements.
• Partner with Production Engineering and R&D during NPI to source mechanical parts and review drawings and specs, flag risks early.
• Apply cost engineering and should-cost analysis to identify cost-down opportunities and lead VAVE initiatives.
• Manage the supplier qualification process (PPAP/FAI/first-sample) with Quality and Production Engineering to ensure readiness for series production.
• Build and maintain a diversified mechanical supplier base with dual sources to mitigate risk.
• Conduct supplier audits and monitor performance across the qualified base.
• Benchmark market pricing and flag cost exposure to Procurement and SCM teams.
• Handover qualified suppliers and terms to Purchasing for PO execution and daily management.
• Maintain supplier qualification records and contract/pricing data in SAP.
• Stay updated on industry trends and technologies in mechanical components and processes.
• Adhere to INFICON processes and business ethics policy and participate in CI.
