Job summary

KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital in Batu Pahat is seeking an experienced maternity nurse to provide comprehensive care for mothers and newborns across labour, delivery, and postpartum stages.

You will monitor patients, assist obstetricians, educate new mothers on breastfeeding and newborn care, and maintain precise medical records while working in a fast-paced, supportive team with rotating shifts.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing is required.
• Malaysian Nursing Board registration with APC is required.
• Post-Basic Certificate in Midwifery or Obstetrics Nursing is highly preferred.
• Minimum 2–3 years of clinical experience in Maternity Ward/Labour Room/NICU.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with compassionate patient care.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle emergencies calmly.
• Willingness to work on a shift-rotation basis, including weekends and public holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns during labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.

• Administer prescribed medications, IV infusions, and other treatments accurately.

• Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with clinical and legal standards.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to implement individualized care plans.

Job Responsibilities

• Monitor, record, and report vital signs and health statuses of patients, identifying and responding to any complications or emergencies promptly.
• Assist obstetricians and pediatricians during deliveries, medical examinations, and clinical procedures.
• Administer prescribed medications, intravenous infusions, and other treatments accurately.
• Educate and support new mothers on newborn care, breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, and self-care practices.
• Maintain detailed and accurate patient medical records in compliance with clinical and legal standards.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.

Job Qualifications

• Candidate must possess a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
• Registered with the Malaysian Nursing Board (Lembaga Jururawat Malaysia) with a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC).
• A Post-Basic Certificate in Midwifery or Obstetrics Nursing is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience working in a Maternity Ward, Labour Room, or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate approach to patient care.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle emergency situations calmly.
• Willingness to work on a shift-rotation basis, including weekends and public holidays.
