Job summary

KPJ Batu Pahat Specialist Hospital in Malaysia is seeking a dedicated nurse to provide comprehensive care for mothers and newborns across labor, delivery, and postpartum stages. You will monitor vitals, assist obstetricians and pediatricians, administer medications, educate new mothers on newborn care and breastfeeding, and maintain accurate records while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team.

Candidates must hold nursing diploma or degree, be registered with the Malaysian Nursing Board

Qualifications

• Diploma or Bachelor’s in Nursing from a recognized institution.
• Registered with the Malaysian Nursing Board with a valid APC.
• Post-Basic Certificate in Midwifery or Obstetrics Nursing preferred.
• 2–3 years of clinical maternity/NICU experience.
• Strong communication and compassionate patient care.
• Willingness to rotate shifts, including weekends/holidays.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns through labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.
• Monitor, record, and report vitals and health status; respond to emergencies promptly.
• Assist obstetricians and pediatricians during deliveries and examinations.
• Administer prescribed medications and IV infusions accurately.
• Educate new mothers on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum self-care.
• Maintain accurate patient records in line with standards.
• Collaborate with the care team to implement individualized care plans.

Job Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to mothers and newborns throughout the labor, delivery, and postpartum phases.
• Monitor, record, and report vital signs and health statuses of patients, identifying and responding to any complications or emergencies promptly.
• Assist obstetricians and pediatricians during deliveries, medical examinations, and clinical procedures.
• Administer prescribed medications, intravenous infusions, and other treatments accurately.
• Educate and support new mothers on newborn care, breastfeeding, postpartum recovery, and self-care practices.
• Maintain detailed and accurate patient medical records in compliance with clinical and legal standards.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary healthcare team to develop and implement individualized care plans.

Job Qualifications

• Candidate must possess a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from a recognized institution.
• Registered with the Malaysian Nursing Board (Lembaga Jururawat Malaysia) with a valid Annual Practicing Certificate (APC).
• A Post-Basic Certificate in Midwifery or Obstetrics Nursing is highly preferred.
• Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience working in a Maternity Ward, Labour Room, or Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU).
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with a compassionate approach to patient care.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle emergency situations calmly.
• Willingness to work on a shift-rotation basis, including weekends and public holidays.
