Job description

A Mechanical Engineer at NI ensures that a design meets its technical specifications, business goals, and customer needs. You will design a variety of different products, including assemblies, enclosures, internal parts, and accessories for test and measurement hardware.

Core Job Responsibilities
  • Create/design/model/prototype electronics packaging solutions for NI products.
  • Select and approve materials, components, and mechanical hardware.
  • Create materials processing specifications for part manufacturing.
  • Certify and support external vendors involved in product/part manufacturing.
  • Conduct tolerance stack-up, thermal and structural analyses of products.
  • Conduct verification and validation testing for the product.
  • Provide support to the manufacturing team throughout production.
  • Support purchasing to ensure quality delivery of all mechanical parts.
  • Become a leading technical resource on electronics packaging technology.
Position Requirements
  • B.S. or MS in mechanical engineering
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in mechanical design
  • Good understanding of fundamental mechanical design principles and processes
Ideal candidates will also have
  • Knowledge of CAD/CAE packages: CREO, SolidWorks, etc.
  • Experience in metal and plastic materials processing is a plus
  • Strong work ethic and drive to succeed
  • English Language Competency and effective communication skills
Demonstrated ability to
  • Take initiative in tackling difficult issues, be a self-starter
  • Take ownership of goals, schedules, and manage time well
