Job summary

Sunway Medical Centre Velocity is seeking a compassionate Staff Nurse (NICU) to deliver expert, protocol-driven care for newborns and premature infants in a high-acuity setting. You will perform aseptic techniques, monitor neonates, respond to emergencies, and support families through hospitalization and discharge planning, under the direction of the NICU team.

Registration with the Malaysian Nursing Board is required; Post Basic Neonatal Nursing is preferred; 1-3 years of NICU or pediatric

Qualifications

• Basic aseptic and sterile techniques
• 1-3 years of clinical/ nursing experience in related fields

Responsibilities

• Provide specialized, protocol-guided care for critically ill or premature neonates, including use of advanced equipment and neonatal resuscitation.
• Continuously monitor neonates, recognize abnormalities and act promptly, with or without immediate medical aid.
• Support and educate parents during hospitalization and in discharge planning.
• Conduct mandatory patient checks prior to procedures and informed consent, identity and operation site checks.
• Maintain aseptic and sterile techniques and ensure all competencies are completed within the stipulated time frame.

Job description

We are seeking a compassionate, highly skilled Staff Nurse (NICU) to join our team and provide exceptional care for our newborn patients.

Basic knowledge of aseptic and sterile techniques

Conduct mandatory patient checks including informed consent, patient identity and operation site prior to the start of procedure

Conduct mandatory surgical checks prior to the start of the procedure, during and pre wound closure.

Responded to surgical emergency requirements such as cardiac, pulmonary or respiratory failure and hemorrhage.

Ensuring completion of all competencies and orientation checklist within stipulated time frame.

Provide specialized, protocol-guided medical and holistic care for critically ill or premature neonates, including use of advanced equipment, interpretation of test results, emergency interventions, and neonatal resuscitation.

Continuously monitor and assess neonates' conditions, recognizing abnormalities and taking prompt action, with or without immediate medical aid.

Support and educate parents in caring for their newborns, both during hospitalization and as part of discharge planning to ensure safe transition home.

Requirements & Qualifications

Post Basic Certificate in Neonatal Nursing

Diploma/Degree in Nursing

Registered with Malaysian Nursing Board

1-3 years of clinical/ nursing experience in related fields

Able to act fast during emergency
