Job summary

Ansell is seeking a Sr. Specialist, EH&S based in Melaka to develop, implement, and maintain environmental, health and safety policies. You will coordinate EMS ISO 14001, report on incidents, and advise on regulatory requirements to improve environmental control across manufacturing processes.

You will lead EHS training, ensure compliance with the EQA and OSHA equivalents, and manage relationships with regulatory bodies while fostering a safe and collaborative workplace culture.

Qualifications

• Degree in Engineering / Environment / Science or related field.
• Strong command of English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Ansell is looking for an Sr. Specialist, EH&S to be based in Melaka.

This position is Responsible for developing, maintaining and updating environmental policies, procedures and

programs thereby ensuring company environmental consciousness. To coordinate and maintain

the EMS ISO 14001 implementation and certification. To report on hazardous releases, violations

of governmental regulations, complaints from public, and incidents as directed by management.

To provide advice for optimum environmental control performance level and introduce operating

procedure for the existing and new manufacturing processes.

What Your Role Will Be

You will:

• Constantly stay abreast of the latest requirements under the Environmental Quality Act 1974 (EQA) and OSHA 1994.
• Act as the coordinator for the Environmental Management System (EMS).
• Assist in managing emergency preparedness and response activities, including ALERT Team training programs.
• Support environmental-related activities and ensure compliance with applicable legal and regulatory requirements.
• Ensure safety practices are implemented effectively, including commitment to pollution prevention and compliance with legal requirements.
• Conduct EHS training and programs for the company.
• Be responsible for the discipline, welfare, safety, and health of subordinates.
• Report environmental incidents to management and ensure corrective actions are implemented for each case or incident.
• Ensure all associates have opportunities to participate in relevant training and education programs to enable ownership of their EHS responsibilities.
• Promote environmental awareness among employees through Environmental Management System (EMS) campaigns.
• Support Safety & Health promotion activities and programs.
• Lead investigations into environmental issues, determine root causes, and recommend corrective actions to management to ensure compliance with EQA requirements.
• Conduct inspections of plant facilities to ensure compliance with EQA regulations, Safety & Health legal requirements, and other applicable standards.
• Coordinate EHS awareness training programs, EMS ISO 14001 committee meetings, and inspections.
• Act as the custodian of environmental documents and data.
• Maintain incident reports related to environmental issues for management review and statutory reporting purposes.
• Foster effective cooperation with the Department of Environment (DOE) and Department of Occupational Safety and Health (DOSH), and manage any related inquiries.
• Assess, analyze, and determine appropriate actions during environmental, safety, and health emergencies.
• Ensure the company's environmental monitoring program aligns with corporate and local regulatory standards.
• Monitor air pollution control systems, toxic chemical releases, and wastewater discharge to ensure compliance with legal and corporate standards.
• Provide guidance on hazardous and non-hazardous waste treatment, storage, disposal, and recycling activities to ensure compliance with statutory and corporate requirements.
• Coordinate the maintenance and repair of environmental-related facilities and equipment.
• Handle legal requirement tracking and manage communication with external stakeholders and regulatory authorities.
• Understand the implications and consequences of improper job performance.
• Adhere to the company's GMP requirements, hygiene rules, and other workplace guidelines.
• Understand and comply with company rules, regulations, policies, disciplinary procedures, and any instructions issued by management from time to time.
