Job summary

TE Connectivity in Malaysia, Penang seeks an experienced Senior Procurement lead to establish and optimize optical commodity strategies aligned with business goals. You will monitor market trends, mitigate price risks, and drive supplier development with cross-functional teams to achieve KPI targets.

The role requires a decade in global commodity management, five years in people leadership, and deep optical domain knowledge.

Qualifications

• 10 years of global/region commodity experience in a multinational company.
• 5 years of people management experience.
• 5 years of Optical related experience.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.
• Engineering background is advantageous.
• Proactive and detail-oriented.
• Strong analytical and cross-functional skills.
• Experience with Asia-Pacific and global supplier collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop Optical commodity strategies aligned with business objectives.
• Monitor global market trends, supply-demand dynamics, and geopolitical factors.
• Mitigate risks related to commodity price fluctuations.
• Identify and develop new suppliers with cross-functional teams.
• Optimize the supplier base to enhance efficiency and quality.
• Conduct RFQs for NPI (New Product Introduction) projects.
• Drive cost reduction initiatives through comprehensive cost analysis, market data evaluation, and negotiation.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to lead Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE) projects.
• Coordinate cross-functional efforts to achieve project KPIs including savings, lead time reduction, minimum order quantity optimization, dual sourcing, and localization.
• Lead quarterly supplier scorecard reviews to improve supplier performance in quality, delivery, and cost.
• Identify risks, opportunities, and underperforming suppliers; implement corrective actions to mitigate risks and ensure continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with plant teams as necessary.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or above in a relevant field
• Fluent in spoken and written English
• 10 years of experience working in a global/region commodity role in a multinational company.
• 5 years of people management experience
• 5 years of Optical related
• Engineering background is advantageous.
• Proven ability to lead projects, coordinate, problem-solve, and make decisive decisions to achieve results
• Proactive and detail-oriented
• Strong analytical and cross-functional skillsAbility to understand global markets, collaborate effectively with global teams, and experience in working with suppliers in the Asia-Pacific region and Global
• Understanding of optical transceivers, optical components, CPO, optics passive fiber connectivity, Silicon photonics, Lasers (EML, Vcsel etc) and fiber interfaces optical transmission, optical jumpers, components used in AI/accelerated computing interconnects.
• Solid understanding of high speed optical transceiver architecture: optics chain, fiber interfaces and optical budgets.
• Knowledge of optical devices and materials:
• Understanding of the manufacturing flow: and key yield, capacity, and lead time drivers.
• Basic familiarity how these influence component selection and cost.
