Job summary

Straumann Group in Kuala Lumpur seeks a Senior GL Accountant to manage APAC general ledger activities, reporting, and compliance. The role requires collaboration with the SSC team and business partners across markets, ensuring accurate financials and timely closing.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years of accounting experience in multinational settings, IFRS knowledge, and fluency in English and Mandarin. Prior exposure to distribution or manufacturing is a plus, with SAP experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related majors.
• Post graduate professional qualifications e.g. CPA/ACCA/CIMA is essential.
• Minimum 8 years working experiences in accounting field for multinational companies.
• At least 5 years' experience in a Senior Accountant role.
• Experience in distribution or manufacturing industries is an advantage.
• Knowledge of IFRS accounting standards including Tax Accounting is essential.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Fluent in English and Mandarin both verbal and written is required. Other additional language welcome.
• SAP experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Record to Report month end closing, year end closing activities and reporting for APAC entities.
• Prepare journals, intercompany reconciliations, balance sheet reviews, and processing.
• Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards.
• Manage fixed assets accounting and maintenance.
• Coordinate with stakeholders, SSC team, and Finance BPs.
• Prepare expense reports and analyses.
• Support working capital management (inventory, receivables, payables).
• Assist in budget and 5-year plans.
• Maintain vendor master data.
• Liaise with auditors and support process improvements.
• Handle ad-hoc projects as needed.

POSITION DESCRIPTION

Job Title: Senior GL Accountant, APAC

Location: Kuala Lumpur

Reports To: Senior GL Manager - APAC

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Assistant GL Manager to join our team in Shanghai. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the general ledger operations, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and supporting various accounting functions. This role requires strong technical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with different departments and stakeholders.

Main Tasks

• Responsible for all Record to Report month end closing, year end closing activities and reporting for entities in APAC including but not limited to the journals preparation, intercompany transactions reconciliations, balance sheet review, transaction proposal and processing, process controlling, analysis and reconciliations.
• Ensure compliance with local and international accounting standards
• Maintenance, accounting and management of fixed assets
• Work closely with various stakeholders, business owners, SSC team, Finance BPs etc.
• Preparation of reports & analysis of expenses.
• Provide support for and management of working capital - inventory, trade receivables and trade payables
• Provide support for budget and 5-year aspirations activities
• Responsible for vendor master data maintenance.
• Recommend, develop, and implement solutions for continuous improvements across the team and markets.
• Liaise with internal and external auditors.

• Ad-hoc projects or tasks assigned by the line manager.
