Job summary

Watlow Electric Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. in Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kedah, Malaysia, is seeking a pro-active purchaser to manage internal requests and external orders for non-production consumables and facility needs.

The role requires 3–5 years of procurement experience, strong supplier negotiation skills, and the ability to lead projects with minimal guidance. Mandarin proficiency is preferred for business communications.

Position Summary:

Manages incoming internal purchasing requests, generating external purchasing requests, and tracking delivery of goods and services. Purchases and negotiates materials, equipment, and supplies from suppliers.

He/She expected to lead projects or specific project activities within broader initiatives, take accountability for ongoing activities and objectives, and serve as a resource and subject-matter reference for less experienced colleagues, with minimal guidance and be capable of resolving complex issues effectively.

Skills, Abilities and Mastery (Responsibility Matrix):

Delivery:

Plan and coordinate physical movement of materials, parts, finished goods, and information to ensure optimization of cost and service level.

Manages incoming internal purchasing requests, generating external purchasing requests, and tracking delivery of goods and services.

Purchases and negotiates materials, equipment, and supplies from suppliers.

Evaluates supplier quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers.

Develops & Manages supply base through use of supplier selection, corrective actions, audits and feedback systems.

Negotiate and settle with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations and engineering changes.

Negotiates requirements for pre-productions samples.

Review and follow-up on late supplier shipments.

Delivers continuous improvement through participation in lean kaizen events.

Business Partner:

Develops strong relationships and provides effective communication, prioritization, and alignment across value streams, sites, business units, and functions.

Demonstrates capability for engaging with external business partners to provide seamless linkage of supply chain processes.

Center of Expertise (COE)

Demonstrates capabilities in material management, Material Requirements Planning (MRP), pull systems, flow, and the implementation of lean concepts.

High attention to detail, follow up and attention to customer service.

Excellent customer service, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.

Education, Experience and Certification Requirements:

Preferred Bachelor’s degree or Technical Qualification with related experience (3-5 years)

Preferable have ability to speak in Mandarin as the job responsibilities and business communication needs, candidates with Mandarin proficiency are required for this role;
