Job summary

Watlow in Malaysia seeks a Senior or Engineer – Supplier Quality to ensure the supply base meets performance expectations. You will drive supplier audits, readiness, and corrective actions, coordinating with global teams and customers.

The role requires 5+ years in supplier quality or related fields, strong problem-solving, and the ability to travel up to 30%. Fluency in English is essential; Mandarin is preferred. Experience with ISO9001:2015 and quality tools is required.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in an engineering, manufacturing, or applicable technical discipline.
• Minimum Five years working in an engineering/design or manufacturing/process role.
• Minimum Five years working in a Supplier Quality, Quality Assurance, or Supply Chain role.
• Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 30%.
• Auditing experience – quality system elements, process audits, PPAP audits, etc.
• Fluent in English (speaking and written); Mandarin proficiency preferred.
• Expertise in applying and executing 8D, PPAP, APQP, Control Plans, and other quality tools.
• Expertise in Problem Solving and applying root cause corrective action tools.
• Knowledge of ISO9001:2015, ITAR, and related standards.
• Ability to lead and communicate with all supplier levels.

Responsibilities

• Support NPD, Global Footprint, and Supply Chain projects to evaluate/audit new Watlow suppliers.
• Lead supplier evaluation/audits of current Watlow suppliers.
• Deploy Watlow requirements to suppliers, identify gaps, and work with suppliers to meet expectations.
• Lead supplier readiness/improvement for new and existing suppliers as needed.
• Utilize supplier performance data and sourcing strategies to continuously improve supplier performance.
• Ensure suppliers understand and apply Watlow’s change control requirements; conduct training and audits.
• Lead major/escalated supplier corrective action with thorough 8D and appropriate actions by Watlow and supplier.
• Develop suppliers from quality-driven to meet Watlow expectations.

Overview Of Role

The Senior or Engineer – Supplier Quality, will be responsible for ensuring acceptable performance of the supply base through effective linkage, active involvement, evaluation, and continuous performance management of our global suppliers.

Key Responsibilities Will Include

• Support NPD, Global Footprint, and Supply Chain projects to evaluate/audit new Watlow suppliers
• Lead supplier evaluation/audits of current Watlow suppliers
• Deploy Watlow requirements to suppliers, identify gaps, and work with suppliers to develop the capability to meet expectations
• Lead supplier readiness/improvement work with new suppliers (pre-product launch) and existing suppliers (as needed)
• Utilize supplier performance data and sourcing strategies to target, define approach, and continuously improve supplier performance
• Ensure suppliers understand and apply Watlow’s change control requirements through annual training and auditing supplier’s conformance to the requirement
• Lead major/escalated supplier corrective action activity, ensuring thorough 8D has been defined and executed by supplier and Watlow has also taken appropriate action
• Suppliers’ development from quality driven systematically to meet Watlow expectations.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in an engineering, manufacturing, or applicable technical discipline
• Minimum Five years working in an engineering/design or manufacturing/process role
• Minimum Five years working in a Supplier Quality, Quality Assurance, or Supply Chain role
• The desire and ability to travel domestically and internationally, up to 30%
• Auditing experience – quality system elements, process audits, PPAP audits, etc
• Fluent in English (speaking and written) and preferable have ability to speak in Mandarin as the job responsibilities and business communication needs, candidates with Mandarin proficiency are required for this role
• Expertise in applying and executing 8D, PPAP, APQP, Control Plans, and other quality tools
• Expertise in Problem Solving and applying root cause corrective action tools
• Working knowledge of registered quality system elements and features; ISO9001:20015, ITAR16949, etc.
• Ability to lead, coach, and communicate to all levels of a supplier’s organization (Operator to President/CEO)
• Capable of representing supplier quality function during customer audits and project work
• Ability to work independently, with remote supervision

• Ability to recognize potential safety issues during supplier visits
• Ability to communicate directly with customers relating to supplier quality function in audits, report outs, etc.
• Understand and apply engineering specifications, prints, drawings, standards, etc.
• Familiarity with products produced by Watlow; heaters, sensors, and controls
• Experience in Metal and plastics, wire & cables, tubing in Semiconductor manufacturing is added advantage.
