Job summary

Watlow, a global technology and manufacturing leader, is seeking a Senior Buyer (Indirect Materials) to manage internal purchasing requests and coordinate external purchases for the Kedah facility. The role focuses on optimizing cost, service level, and supplier performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or technical qualification in related field.
• 3–5 years of procurement experience.
• Experience in non-production consumables purchasing.
• Mandarin proficiency preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manages incoming internal purchasing requests, generating external purchasing requests, and tracking delivery of goods and services.
• Purchases and negotiates materials, equipment, and supplies from suppliers.
• Leads projects or project activities within broader initiatives and mentors less experienced colleagues.

Senior Buyer (Indirect Materials)

• MUST have experiences in buying non-production consumables and all other stuff that cater our facility needs

Position Summary

• Manages incoming internal purchasing requests, generating external purchasing requests, and tracking delivery of goods and services. Purchases and negotiates materials, equipment, and supplies from suppliers.
• He/She expected to lead projects or specific project activities within broader initiatives, take accountability for ongoing activities and objectives, and serve as a resource and subject-matter reference for less experienced colleagues, with minimal guidance and be capable of resolving complex issues effectively.

• Plan and coordinate physical movement of materials, parts, finished goods, and information to ensure optimization of cost and service level.
• Manages incoming internal purchasing requests, generating external purchasing requests, and tracking delivery of goods and services.
• Purchases and negotiates materials, equipment, and supplies from suppliers.
• Evaluates supplier quotes and services to determine most desirable suppliers.
• Develops & Manages supply base through use of supplier selection, corrective actions, audits and feedback systems.
• Negotiate and settle with suppliers regarding damage claims, rejections, return of materials, over-shipments, cancellations and engineering changes.
• Negotiates requirements for pre-productions samples.
• Review and follow-up on late supplier shipments.
• Delivers continuous improvement through participation in lean kaizen events.

Business Partner

• Develops strong relationships and provides effective communication, prioritization, and alignment across value streams, sites, business units, and functions.
• Demonstrates capability for engaging with external business partners to provide seamless linkage of supply chain processes.

Center of Expertise (COE)

• Demonstrates capabilities in material management, Material Requirements Planning (MRP), pull systems, flow, and the implementation of lean concepts.
• High attention to detail, follow up and attention to customer service.
• Excellent customer service, interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.
• Good in Excel and other Microsoft Office tools.
• Excellent negotiation and problem-solving skills.
• Possess exceptional conflict resolution skills and is adept at dealing with situations involving conflict.

Education, Experience And Certification Requirements

• Preferred Bachelor’s degree or Technical Qualification with related experience (3-5 years)

• Excellent in Microsoft programs;
• Ability to multi-task, organize, and prioritize work;
• Preferable have ability to speak in Mandarin as the job responsibilities and business communication needs, candidates with Mandarin proficiency are required for this role;
• Must be willing to work at Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kedah, Malaysia.
