Job summary

Watlow Electric Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. is seeking a Sr/Sourcing Specialist to lead electrical and mechanical component sourcing from local and global suppliers. The role requires strong negotiation, ERP purchasing experience, and ability to manage multi-site relationships in a fast-paced environment.

The position reports to the Sourcing Manager and supports Asia with a travel requirement of 30%. Base in Kulim Hi-Tech Park, Kedah, Malaysia.

Qualifications

• Experience in sourcing electrical & electronic components (actives, passive, switch gear).
• ERP purchasing/sourcing processes; strong supplier relationships.
• Ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
• Experience in global sourcing and localization.
• Capex/IT/Indirect procurement experience is a plus.
• EMS experience is an added advantage.

Responsibilities

• Conducts RFI/Q/P locally/globally.
• Negotiation of prices and terms with suppliers to meet quality, delivery and cost objectives.
• Drives parts and process qualification with Supplier Quality and VAVE teams.
• Preparing comparative statements.
• Managing supplier onboarding activities and quarterly business reviews (QBRs).
• Support part qualification & localizations.
• Signing LTAs, negotiation and development with Sourcing Manager and Contract Specialists.
• Support logistics, program managers & compliance team to get relevant documents from suppliers.

Position: Sr/Sourcing Specialist
Location: Watlow Malaysia, Kulim Hi-Tech Park (Kedah)
Reporting to Sourcing Manager
Support Asia
Travel requirement : 30%
Preferred Industry: Pressure vessel & Boiler Industries , Panel builders , EMS ( Electronic Manufacturing Service), Electrical Wire Manufacturing, Automotive & Industrial manufacturing.

Nature of Experience:

• Experience in sourcing Electrical & Electronic Components (Actives , Passive , Switch gears , Control panels), Mechanical Components (Sheet metal, Boilers, Pressure vessels, Flanges, Tubings), Electro mechanical components (Wires, Cables, Wire harness , PCBs).
• Knowledge of general purchasing & sourcing processes within an ERP System. Must demonstrate exceptional written and verbal communication skills while interacting and building strong relationships with suppliers / vendors.
• Ability to multitask, set priorities, organize and follow-through to meet deadlines.
• Experience in global sourcing, alternate component sourcing & Localization.
• Experience as buyer is must (Handling CAPEX procurement, IT procurement , Indirect procurement shall be added advantage).
• Experience in EMS is added advantage.

Major Role and Responsibilities:

• Negotiation of prices and terms with suppliers to meet specified quality, delivery and cost objectives.
• Drives parts and process qualification, in coordination with Supplier Quality team/ VAVE team.
• Preparing comparative statements.
• Should be good in costing.
• Manage supplier onboarding activities and conduct ongoing performance monitoring through Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs)
• Support part qualification & localizations.
• Signing LTAs , negotiation and development in coordination with Sourcing Manager and Contract Specialists.
• Support logistics , program managers & compliance team to get relevant documents from suppliers.

Education and experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Operations Management, Materials Management or Business Management or equivalent or equivalent education and/or experience.
• Minimum 5 years experience in Global Sourcing & Buyer.
• Strong negotiation and communication / presentation skills.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders in regional or multinational environments.
• Understanding of supply chain management concepts such as inventory management, Import/export procedures and logistics.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Oracle and other relevant software tools.
