Job summary

Blackbox BI Consultancy is seeking a database-focused professional in Malaysia to write and optimize SQL queries, design reusable tables, and manage daily FTP updates. You will support BI data projects, ensure database performance, security, and availability, and troubleshoot issues across the data stack.

The role requires MSSQL expertise, RMDBMS knowledge, and at least 2 years in a software development/deployment team, with a strong understanding of retail operations data.

Qualifications

• Possess a Professional Certificate, Diploma, Degree or higher in Computer Science/Information Technology or related field.
• MUST have experience with Microsoft SQL or other relational databases such as Oracle, MySQL, Firebird, etc.
• MUST have exposure to retail domain and understanding of retail operations data.
• Minimum 2 years of experience in a software development/deployment team for business.
• Strong proficiency with MSSQL queries and RMDBMS logic.
• Skilled at optimizing large and complicated SQL statements.

Responsibilities

• Handle in writing and optimizing SQL queries.
• Create reusable table structure that can be included in future standard database structure.
• Create batch file for daily FTP updates.
• Assist team in project implementation on the database section.
• Quality checking and assurance on the data from our Business Intelligence models.
• Handle and maintain server settings such as ports forwarding, task scheduler and database connectivity between clients and our database server.
• Handle common database procedures such as upgrade, backup, recovery, migration, etc.
• Ensure performance, security, and availability of databases.
• Troubleshooting common database issues, script, and system errors.
