## SQA EngineerApply: Penang: Full time: Posted 4 Days Ago: R26-01507# **Job Description****Key Responsibilities*** Ensure all engineering team members are trained and competent before starting work at client sites.* Participate in and enforce daily Toolbox Talks (TBT) at all active worksites.* Verify all tasks have appropriate risk assessments, including Risk Assessment (RA), Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Pre-Task Plans (PTP), and Safety Work Procedures (SWP).* Conduct regular Safety Management by Walking Around (SMBWA) to identify hazards, unsafe conditions, and unsafe acts during work execution.* Identify, document, and promote Good Catches (near-miss/hazard recognition) across the engineering team.* Conduct Behaviour-Based Safety Observations (BBSO) for high-risk tasks (e.g., installation, commissioning, repair, and semiconductor equipment service).* Identify and correct normalized deviant behaviour, where hazards are treated as acceptable, and ensure timely remedial actions.* Collect qualitative and quantitative safety data (observations, inspections, hazard trends, incidents, etc.) to enable effective Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA).* Prepare daily and regular safety reports for management review, including trends, key concerns, challenges, and recommendations.**Incident Investigation & Root Cause Analysis*** Lead or support investigations for injuries, near-misses, equipment damage, or quality failures.* Determine root cause(s) using recognized methods (e.g., 5-Why, Fishbone/Ishikawa, M-SHELL).* Develop, track, and close preventive and corrective actions.**Training, Compliance & Competency*** Conduct safety training for engineering personnel, including induction, high-risk work training, practical/equipment-specific training, and client-site requirements as needed.* Develop new training materials as needed, including e-learning, presentations, and practical assessments.* Support and coordinate regulatory and compliance training, particularly for construction-area work where certifications are required.* Maintain training records and competency documentation.**Client Engagement & Coordination*** Support current and new client projects by reviewing safety and quality requirements for each scope.* Participate in project planning meetings and provide safety input on work methods, risk assessments, and resource needs.* Build and maintain effective working relationships with client HSE and quality representatives.* Coordinate with overseas counterparts to align standards, regulatory training, and certification requirements, including training arrangements.* Support knowledge transfer and standardize safety practices across regions.**Additional Support (Secondary Duty)*** Support office safety initiatives, including fire drills, ergonomics, emergency preparedness, and office inspections.**Typical Education and Experience*** **Education:** Minimum Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Safety/Health, or a related field* **Experience**: Proven experience in safety and quality coordination within engineering, construction, or technical services environments; semiconductor industry experience is strongly preferred* **Technical Knowledge**: Strong knowledge of semiconductor equipment; able to conduct risk assessments for repair, service, installation, and commissioning activities* **Regulatory Knowledge:** Good working knowledge of Malaysian regulations (OSH Act 1994, relevant DOSH requirements, and CIDB/construction requirements where applicable)* **Analytical Skills**: Engineering-minded; able to conduct incident investigations and root cause analysis independently* **Data & Reporting**: Able to collect qualitative/quantitative safety data and produce clear management reports* **Training Skills**: Able to conduct safety training and develop training materials/content* **Soft Skills**: Strong communication, stakeholder management, and client-facing skills; comfortable working independently on-site* **Language:** Fluent in English (written and spoken); Bahasa Malaysia is advantageousPhysical Demands and Work Conditions The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
