Job summary

U Mobile Sdn Bhd is hiring a Specialist, Transmission Network Operation to provide end-to-end support for Enterprise/IPRAN 5G access network, fault resolution, capacity expansion and database maintenance. You will focus on maximizing network availability and driving improvements in service quality.

We seek graduates with a degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Telecommunications, eager to learn, with up to one year of relevant experience.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering or Telecommunications.
• Fresh graduates are encouraged; up to 1 year of relevant experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of transmission networks, IP/IT switches and routers.

Responsibilities

• Maintain availability and stability of Enterprise/IPRAN 5G access network equipment (PTN/CSR, routers, GPON, switches).
• Provide second-level support and troubleshoot transmission equipment issues.
• Handle network performance issues and customer complaint tickets.
• Resolve trouble tickets, alarms and equipment errors within SLAs.
• Identify root causes of transmission failures and restore services promptly.
• Conduct network audits, performance analysis and monitoring to meet KPIs.
• Plan capacity, expansion and optimisation for new 5G circuits.
• Escalate abnormalities to vendors and interconnect teams with timely updates.
• Support Field Force Team with second-level assistance.
• Collaborate with leads and vendors to restore faults and improve progress updates.
• Manage leased-line providers and drive improvements for major incidents.
• Generate reports on problem links and recommend troubleshooting improvements.
• Support database maintenance for the Enterprise/IPRAN 5G network.

Job Summary

Provide end-to-end support for U Mobile’s Enterprise/IPRAN 5G access network, including fault resolution, upgrades, capacity expansion, and database maintenance. The role focuses on maintaining network availability, resolving major incidents, supporting field teams, and improving service quality for customers.

The Day-to-Day Activities

• Maintain the availability and stability of Enterprise/IPRAN 5G access network equipment, including PTN/CSR, routers, GPON and switches.
• Provide second-level support and troubleshoot network issues involving switches, routers, GPON and other transmission equipment.
• Handle network performance issues and customer complaint tickets.
• Resolve trouble tickets, alarms and equipment errors within the agreed service levels.
• Identify the cause of transmission network failures and restore services within the required timeframe.
• Conduct network audits, performance analysis and monitoring to ensure service availability and meet KPIs.
• Perform capacity planning, network expansion and optimisation for new Enterprise/IPRAN 5G circuits.
• Escalate network abnormalities and irregularities to vendors, leased-line providers, interconnect teams and CDMU in a timely manner.
• Provide second-level support to the Field Force Team.
• Work with team leads, vendors and management to restore faults and provide progress updates.
• Manage leased-line providers and drive improvements for repetitive and major incidents.
• Generate and analyse reports on problem links, and recommend troubleshooting improvements to reduce network outages.
• Support database maintenance for the Enterprise/IPRAN 5G access network.

About You

• Degree or equivalent in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications or a related discipline. Fresh graduates are encouraged to apply; candidates with up to one year of relevant experience in telecommunications, networking or IT will have an added advantage.
• Experience in the telecommunications industry, preferably in transmission operations and maintenance.
• At least one year of experience in switch/router operations and maintenance, or suitable experience as a fresh graduate.
• Ability to troubleshoot Layer 2 issues across different router and IP network nodes.
• Knowledge of transmission networks, IP/IT switches and routers.
• Experience with switches, routers, GPON or BRAS will be an added advantage.
• Able to work in demanding situations and respond assertively when required.
• Knowledge of any programming language, scripting or network automation tools will be an added advantage.
