Job summary

Pivotal Systems (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Sourcing Manager to lead strategic procurement for CNC machining materials, tooling, and services. You will develop sourcing strategies, onboard suppliers locally and globally, and drive cost-saving initiatives during ramp-up.

Collaboration with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Planning teams is essential to align procurement with production schedules while ensuring compliance with Malaysian regulations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field.
• 8–10 years of sourcing/procurement experience, preferably CNC machining, precision engineering, or manufacturing.
• Experience in Malaysia manufacturing setup or plant ramp-up is an advantage.
• Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
• Good understanding of CNC processes, machining materials (e.g., aluminum, stainless steel), and tooling.
• Cost analysis and strategic sourcing expertise.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, ramp-up environment.
• Fluent in English; Mandarin is an added advantage (for China supplier interaction).

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement sourcing strategies for CNC-related materials, components, and services (e.g., raw materials, tooling, machining parts, subcontracting).
• Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers locally and globally.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure long-term partnerships.
• Drive supplier localization initiatives to support Malaysia operations.
• Lead price negotiations, cost reduction initiatives, and contract management.
• Conduct cost analysis (should-cost, benchmarking) to ensure competitive pricing.
• Deliver annual cost savings and productivity improvement targets.
• Ensure uninterrupted supply to support production schedules and ramp-up plans.
• Identify supply risks and implement mitigation strategies (dual sourcing, safety stock, etc.).
• Monitor market trends, material pricing, and supply risks.
• Work closely with Quality and Engineering teams on supplier qualification and audits.
• Drive supplier improvement plans for underperforming suppliers.

Strategic Sourcing & Supplier Management

Develop and implement sourcing strategies for CNC-related materials, components, and services (e.g., raw materials, tooling, machining parts, subcontracting).

Identify, evaluate, and onboard new suppliers locally and globally.

Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure long-term partnerships.

Drive supplier localization initiatives to support Malaysia operations.

Cost Management & Negotiation

Ensure uninterrupted supply to support production schedules and ramp-up plans.

Work closely with Quality and Engineering teams on supplier qualification and audits.

Drive supplier improvement plans for underperforming suppliers.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, and Planning teams to align sourcing strategies with business needs.

Support NPI (New Product Introduction) projects by sourcing new materials and suppliers.

Ensure alignment with global procurement strategies if applicable.

Compliance & Governance

Ensure compliance with company policies, ethical sourcing standards, and Malaysian regulations.

Manage contracts, documentation, and procurement processes in line with internal controls.

Requirements:

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Engineering, Business, or related field.

Minimum 8–10 years of sourcing/procurement experience, preferably in CNC machining, precision engineering, or manufacturing environment.

Experience in Malaysia manufacturing setup or plant ramp-up is an advantage.

Strong negotiation and supplier management skills.
