Job description

Join TIME Energy's structured technical development programme designed to build competent Solar PV installation and maintenance professionals for our flagship renewable energy solution, Emit Solar. As a Solar PV Technician Trainee, you will undergo comprehensive technical training, hands-on coaching, practical site exposure, and competency assessments while working alongside experienced technicians.

You will support the installation, commissioning, inspection, troubleshooting, and maintenance of residential Solar PV systems, gaining valuable industry experience and technical expertise. This programme offers a clear and progressive career pathway, enabling high-performing trainees to advance from Trainee to Certified Technician based on demonstrated competency, performance, and business needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Participate actively in all assigned technical training, practical learning and development programmes.


• Develop knowledge and understanding of residential Solar PV systems, components and installation practices.


• Assist experienced technicians in the installation of residential Solar PV systems.


• Support the installation of PV modules, mounting structures, DC/AC cabling, inverters, isolators, protection devices and monitoring equipment under supervision.


• Learn to interpret approved engineering drawings, Single Line Diagrams (SLD) and technical installation requirements.


• Assist with site preparation, equipment handling and installation activities in accordance with company SOPs.


• Assist with testing, commissioning and system verification activities under the guidance of qualified personnel.


• Participate in preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) activities as part of practical site exposure.


• Develop practical knowledge of Solar PV system operation, basic troubleshooting and common electrical and mechanical faults under supervision.


• Learn the correct use and handling of relevant tools, equipment and testing instruments.


• Strictly comply with HSSE requirements, PPE usage, work-at-height procedures and all applicable site safety requirements.


• Participate in safety briefings, toolbox meetings and other required safety activities.


• Assist in completing installation, commissioning and maintenance reports with accurate photo documentation.


• Participate in technical assessments, competency evaluations and development reviews as part of the programme.


• Maintain training records and complete assigned learning modules, practical tasks and development requirements.


• Work closely with technicians, engineers, contractors and other relevant stakeholders.


• Demonstrate a positive attitude, willingness to learn, openness to feedback and continuous improvement.


• Perform other duties and learning assignments assigned by the Technical Operations Manager as part of the development programme.

Development Programme

• Foundation & Induction - Introduction to the company, workplace safety, Solar PV systems, company SOPs and basic technical knowledge.


• Technical Training - Structured learning covering Solar PV installation, electrical fundamentals, equipment, tools, quality and safety practices.


• Supervised Site Exposure - Practical on-site experience under the guidance of experienced technicians and technical leaders.


• Competency Development & Assessment - Progressive assessment of technical knowledge, practical skills, safety practices and work quality.


• Certification & Technician Readiness - Completion of relevant training, competency and certification requirements in preparation for progression into a qualified technician role.

• Minimum of Diploma/Certificate in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
