Job summary

ISI Markets in Malaysia seeks a software engineer to collaborate with the Business Analyst to define, refine, develop, test and deliver against functional requirements. You will translate functional specs into technical requirements and contribute to project planning and estimation.

You will write technical docs for engineers of varying skill levels, implement reliable code, and drive test automation, quality, and CI/CD practices across teams in different regions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in CS/IT/SE with strong computing background
• 3-5 years of experience in a similar or closely related role
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English; Cantonese helpful
• Experience with Micro Services architecture and CI/CD
• Experience with Windows and VSTO Excel add-ins
• Familiar with Git and AWS services

Responsibilities

• Collaborate closely with the Business Analyst to define, refine, develop, test and deliver against functional requirements

• Develops technical documentation for internal or external consumption for engineers of varying skill level
• Provides technical input to the project delivery plan, including sizing and estimation
• Accountable for the quality of the scrum team and supporting through code review processes and testing strategies
• Implements correct, performant and reliable code on schedule and according to specification
• Determines code quality and test coverage, and designs tests to ensure high quality software
• Develops and maintains test automation efficiency and effectiveness
• Responsible for defect closure and root cause analysis to avoid regressions
• Drives continual improvement in quality and efficiency, including defect prevention/root cause analysis
• Collaborates with Support, Operations, Product and Engineering across regions

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science/Information Technology/Software Engineering with strong computing background
• Object Oriented programming experience: min 3+ years in Java
• Solid experience in Javascript, React, CSS and HTML5
• Solid experience in MySQL, AWS Aurora and MongoDB
• Experience in Data Engineering / Data Pipelines / Data processing streaming technologies
• Experience in WildFly
• Experience in VSTO Excel add-in development
• Experience with IDE tools such as Injelij
• Experience in Windows 10 / 11 and Office
• Familiar with Source Control tool GIT
• Familiarity with Amazon Web Services: e.g. Lambda, SQS, S3
• Experience with Micro Services architecture and development
• Continuous Integration software: e.g. Jenkins
• Excellent communicator and ability to work with teams in different regions and time zones
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. Understand Cantonese would be added advantage
• 3-5 years of experience in a similar or closely related role is expected to demonstrate competency

• AI-Assisted Development: Active experience using AI-driven coding tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, or Amazon Q) to accelerate development efficiency.
