Job summary

Sunway Education Group in Malaysia is seeking a senior software engineer to drive design, development, and integration of scalable applications across platforms.

You will lead SDLC activities, mentor junior engineers, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver high-quality solutions while continuously improving performance and security.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
• Minimum 3 years of software development and relational database management systems experience.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and version control (Git).
• Proven experience designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs and system integrations.
• Experience with microservices and containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) is a plus.
• Experience with .NET, Node.js, Python, React.js, Vue.js, Flutter, or React Native is a plus.
• Exposure to low-code platforms (Power Platform or OutSystems) or Oracle Forms/Reports is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior software engineers; strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills in English.

Responsibilities

Job description

Key Responsibilities:

Gather, analyse, design, and document business and application requirements with stakeholders.

Research, evaluate, and implement new technologies, tools, and Proof of Concept (PoC) initiatives to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

Requirements:

A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or its equivalent.

Minimum 3 years of working experience in software development and relational database management systems (RDBMS).

Strong understanding of software development best practices, software architecture, design patterns, and version control systems (e.g., Git).

Proven experience in designing, developing, and consuming RESTful APIs and system integrations.

Experience with microservices architecture and containerisation technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) would be an added advantage.

Experience with .NET, Node.js, Python, React.js, Vue.js, Flutter, or React Native would be an added advantage.

Exposure to low-code platforms (e.g., Microsoft Power Platform, OutSystems) or Oracle Forms and Reports would be an added advantage.

Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor junior software engineers, with strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.

Possess high initiative, self-motivation, and the ability to work independently as well as in a team, with strong verbal, written, and presentation skills in English.
