Job summary

Phillip Capital Group in Malaysia is seeking an IT Developer to analyze, design, develop, test, document, deploy and maintain secure business applications. You will translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver reliable solutions using .NET, SQL Server, modern web technologies and reporting tools.

The role requires hands-on experience, the ability to work across the SDLC, collaborate with project teams, and apply secure coding practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, IT or related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• Typically 2–4 years of relevant software development experience.
• Experience in financial services, investment, payment or other regulated enterprise systems is advantageous.
• Practical experience in database-driven web applications, API integration, testing, deployment and production support within a structured SDLC.

JOB SUMMARY

The IT Developer is a hands-on mid-level technology professional responsible foranalyzing, designing, developing, testing, documenting,deployingandmaintainingsecure business applications. The role converts business requirements into functional and program specifications and delivers reliable solutions across the Microsoft .NET, SQL Server, modern web,integrationand reporting technology stack. The role also provides post-project application support and maintenance while following approved software architecture,securityand quality practices.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

Software Development and SDLC

Be responsible forsoftware development using current andappropriate technologiesin line with approved enterprise standards.

Perform activities throughout the application development life cycle, including requirements gathering, analysis, estimation, solution design, development, documentation, testing,implementationand support.

Transform business requirements into functional specifications, technicaldesignsand program specifications that are clear,testableand traceable.

Develop,enhanceandmaintainsoftware applications, shared components and supporting frameworks using C#, .NET, .NET Core / modern .NET and ASP.NET MVC.

Follow and implement approved software engineering practices and architectures, including object-oriented design, reusable components, dependency injection, asynchronousprocessingand secure coding.

Familiarity with AI-assisted software development tools such as GitHub Copilot and AI-powered code generation platforms.

Understanding of Large Language Models (LLMs), Generative AI concepts, prompt engineering, and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG).

Frontend, Services and API Development

Develop andmaintain.NET services, ASP.NET Web API and REST APIs using clear contracts, input validation, authentication and authorization controls, structured exceptionhandlingand consistent response models.

Integrate internal applications and external service providers, document interfacebehaviorandmaintainrepresentative request and response payloads for support and testing.

Database, ETL and Reporting

Design, develop and optimize Microsoft SQLServerdatabase objects, including tables, views, stored procedures, functions, queries,indexesand transactions.

Develop, schedule,monitorand troubleshoot SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS) packages for controlled data extraction,transformationand loading.

Develop andmaintainoperational and management reports using Crystal Reports and RDLC, including datasets, parameters, grouping, totals, formattingand exportbehavior.

Investigate data discrepancies systematically and implementappropriate validation, reconciliation, auditloggingand exception handling.

Testing, Release and Application Support

Prepare unit tests and support system integration testing, regression testing, user acceptancetestingand defect resolution against agreed acceptance criteria.

Handle post-project application support and maintenance, including incident triage, defect correction, root-causeanalysisand preventive improvement.

Use approved source control, branching, peer review,buildand deployment practices;maintaindatabase scripts, release notes, configurationguidanceand rollback considerations.

Collaborate with project managers, business analysts, quality assurance, infrastructure, security,vendorsand business users, and communicate material risks,constraintsand dependencies early.

Undertake reasonable ad hoc assignments required by the reporting manager from time to time,wherealigned with the role and organizational priorities.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree or diploma in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline, or equivalent relevant practical experience.

Typically,2 to 4 years of relevant software development experience, including independent delivery of medium-complexity application changes.

Practical experience in database-driven web applications, API integration, testing,deploymentand production support within a structured SDLC environment.

Experience in financial services, investment,paymentor other regulated enterprise systems isadvantageous.

PLACEMENT

The position is placed within the Information Technology Department, Application Development function. The IT Developer reports to the Project Manager and works closely with business analysts, developers, quality assurance, infrastructure, security,vendorsand relevant business stakeholders. Work location and working arrangement are governed by the employee appointment terms and prevailing company policy.
