Job summary

Intretech Malaysia is seeking an SMT Engineering Manager to lead our SMT/PCBA engineering operations, drive world-class manufacturing excellence, and support our global growth.

Ideal candidates have strong SMT process engineering and NPI experience in high-volume electronics manufacturing, with the ability to collaborate with production, process engineering, quality and maintenance teams to sustain production stability and drive continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/ Electronics/ Mechanical/ Mechatronics/ Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.
• 2–5 years of SMT equipment engineering or maintenance experience; seniors welcome.
• Hands-on experience with SMT equipment from Fuji, Panasonic, Yamaha, Juki, ASM.
• Strong knowledge of SMT printers, SPI, P&P, reflow, AOI/AXI, wave soldering.
• Familiar with preventive/predictive maintenance and root-cause analysis.

Responsibilities

• Support daily SMT equipment operations to minimize downtime.
• Perform troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of SMT equipment.
• Carry out preventive maintenance and calibration to ensure machine reliability.
• Set up machines, feeders, changeovers and optimization for SMT equipment.
• Monitor OEE, downtime; implement improvements.
• Coordinate with suppliers and overseas teams for parts and support.
• Update maintenance documentation and SOPs.

Job Responsibilities

Support daily SMT equipment operations to ensure smooth production and minimal machine downtime.

Perform troubleshooting, repair and maintenance of SMT equipment, including mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and software-related issues.

Carry out preventive maintenance (PM), corrective maintenance and equipment calibration to ensure machine reliability and performance.

Perform machine setup, programming, feeder setup, changeover and optimization for SMT equipment, including Printer, SPI, Pick & Place, Reflow, AOI/AXI, Wave and Selective Soldering machines.

Monitor equipment performance, availability, utilization and downtime, and implement improvement actions to enhance OEE.

Identify equipment abnormalities, conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurring breakdowns.

Optimize machine parameters, operating conditions and equipment settings to improve production efficiency and product quality.

Support new equipment installation, commissioning, qualification and acceptance activities.

Support New Product Introduction (NPI), new model setup, equipment validation and engineering change implementation.

Work closely with production, process engineering, quality and maintenance teams to resolve equipment-related issues and maintain production stability.

Coordinate with equipment suppliers, vendors and overseas technical teams for machine troubleshooting, technical support and spare parts requirements.

Maintain and update equipment documentation, including preventive maintenance schedules, machine manuals, troubleshooting records, SOPs and work instructions.

Monitor critical spare parts inventory and ensure availability to minimize equipment downtime.

Participate in equipment improvement, automation, Lean and Kaizen activities to enhance machine reliability and reduce maintenance costs.

Ensure all equipment operations comply with safety requirements, quality standards and company procedures.

Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical / Electronics / Mechanical / Mechatronics / Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent.

Minimum 2–5 years of experience in SMT equipment engineering or maintenance within a PCBA/EMS manufacturing environment. Senior candidates with 5+ years of experience may be considered.

Strong technical knowledge of SMT equipment, machine maintenance, troubleshooting and repair.

Hands-on experience with SMT machines such as Fuji, Panasonic, Yamaha, Juki, ASM or equivalent.

Familiar with SMT equipment including Printer, SPI, Pick & Place, Reflow Oven, AOI/AXI, Wave and Selective Soldering machines.

Good knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, servo motor, sensor and PLC systems.

Experience in machine programming, setup, calibration, feeder maintenance and equipment optimization.

Familiar with preventive maintenance, predictive maintenance, root cause analysis and equipment improvement methodologies.

Knowledge of OEE, MTBF, MTTR and equipment downtime analysis is an advantage.

Strong troubleshooting, analytical and problem-solving skills.

Hands-on, independent and able to work under production pressure.

Good teamwork and communication skills with the ability to coordinate with cross‑functional teams.

Experience in high-mix EMS or MNC manufacturing environments is an advantage.

Mandarin speaking is an added advantage to facilitate communication with the China engineering team, HQ and technical counterparts for equipment troubleshooting, engineering coordination and technical support.
