Job summary

Yankey Engineering (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd in Penang seeks a Site Safety Engineer to lead safety inspections, risk assessments and the implementation of safety management systems on construction sites. You will work with project managers and supervisors to promote a culture of safety and ensure regulatory compliance.

The role requires a degree in Occupational Safety and Health or engineering, 3–5 years of relevant experience, knowledge of OSHA, and fluency in Mandarin and English.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of experience as a Site Safety Engineer or similar in construction.
• Proven track record implementing safety management systems.
• Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations (OSHA).
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with supervisor interaction.
• Mandarin and English proficiency preferred for client communication.

Conducting regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify and address potential safety hazards.

Developing, implementing and maintaining comprehensive safety management systems and procedures.

Providing safety training and conducting toolbox talks to educate site personnel on safety best practices.

Investigating and reporting on any incidents or accidents, and implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Ensuring the site complies with all relevant health and safety regulations and industry standards.

Collaborating with project managers, supervisors and other stakeholders to promote a culture of safety.

Maintaining detailed records and documentation related to site safety activities and performance.

Required Qualifications and Experience:

Degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Engineering or a related field.

Preferred 3-5 years of experience as a Site Safety Engineer or in a similar role in the construction industry.

Proven track record of implementing effective safety management systems and successfully driving safety initiatives.

Strong knowledge of relevant health and safety regulations, such as the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA).

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with all levels of the organization.

Yellow and Green Book holder preferred.

Proficient in problem-solving, risk analysis and decision-making.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.

Candidates fluent in Mandarin and English (Verbal and Writing) preferred. We are seeking candidates proficient in Mandarin to effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking clients.

Willing to short and long term domestics and oversea travel.
