Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Registered Safety Officer to oversee site safety on construction projects in Malaysia. The role requires maintaining safety plans, conducting inspections, and reporting on safety metrics to management.

Candidates must have a Yellow Book and be DOSH/NIOSH/JKKP registered, with at least 2 years of construction site experience, familiarity with OSHA 1994, FMA, and safety documentation. This is a full-time on-site position at project sites.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversee site safety and implement safety plans.
• Prepare and implement comprehensive safety plans for projects.
• Conduct daily site inspections for compliance.
• Prepare weekly safety reports and status updates.
• Lead toolbox talks with subcontractors and workers.
• Inspect equipment, PPE and fire-fighting gear on-site.
• Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure safety procedures.
• Liaise with OSHA and authorities for compliance.
• Rectify unsafe practices and maintain safe workplace.
• Record accidents, incidents and near misses; investigate causes.

Requirements

• Registered Safety Officer: Must have a valid Yellow Book and be registered with DOSH/NIOSH/JKKP
• Construction experience: Minimum of 2 years of working experience in a construction site is required.
• Strong knowledge of OSHA 1994, FMA and construction safety practices.
• Familiar with HIRARC, JSA, PTW and safety documentation.
• Able to communicate effectively with workers and management
• Firm, responsible and safety-conscious attitude
• Willing to be based full-time at project site

Responsibilities

• Oversee site safety: Ensure the safety of the construction site by implementing safety plans and conducting inspections.
• Prepare safety plans: Develop and implement comprehensive safety plans for construction projects.
• Conduct inspections: Perform daily inspections of the construction site to ensure compliance with safety plans.
• Prepare reports: Create weekly safety inspection and status reports to keep track of safety measures.
• Conduct toolbox meetings: Lead safely toolbox meetings with subcontractors and workers to promote safety awareness.
• Inspect equipment: Monitor the usage of machinery, tools, fire-fighting equipment, first-aid kits, and PPE on-site.
• Coordinate with subcontractors: Work with subcontractors to verify their safety procedures and ensure compliance.
• Liaison with authorities: Communicate with OSHA and relevant authorities to ensure compliance with safety and health requirements.
• Rectify unsafe practices: Identify and rectify any unsafe practices on-site to maintain a safe working environment.
• Record and report accidents, incidents and near misses
• Investigate accidents and recommend corrective and preventive actions
• Ensure proper housekeeping and site cleanliness
• Monitor high-risk activities such as work at height, lifting operations and confined spaces
• Issue safety notices, warning letters and stop-work instructions when required
