About the role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Shop Assistant to join our team at KK SUPER MART Jalan Ipoh (4) in Kuala Lumpur. This is a full-time position that plays a vital role in delivering an exceptional customer experience and maintaining the smooth day-to-day operations of our retail store. As a Shop Assistant, you will be the face of our store, ensuring customers receive outstanding service whilst maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organisation and product presentation. This position is integral to our store's success and directly impacts customer satisfaction and sales performance.

Key responsibilities

Provide friendly, efficient and professional customer service to all shoppers, assisting with enquiries and helping customers locate products

Process customer transactions at the checkout, handling cash and card payments accurately and securely

Stock shelves and display areas with products, ensuring items are well-organised, clearly priced and presented attractively

Conduct regular store walks to monitor stock levels, identify gaps and report replenishment needs to management

Maintain cleanliness and tidiness throughout the store, including aisles, shelves, fitting areas and customer facilities

Handle customer complaints and concerns professionally, escalating issues to management when necessary

Assist with receiving and unpacking deliveries, verifying stock against delivery notes

Comply with all health and safety regulations, store policies and company procedures

Support promotional activities and merchandise displays as directed by management

What we're looking for

Previous retail or customer service experience is preferred, though we welcome applications from candidates keen to develop their retail career

Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a genuine passion for delivering excellent customer service

Ability to work as part of a team whilst also managing tasks independently and efficiently

Physical capability to stand for extended periods, lift and carry items, and perform repetitive tasks

Reliability and punctuality, with a flexible approach to shift patterns and working hours including weekends and public holidays

Attention to detail with strong organisational skills to maintain store standards

Basic numeracy skills for handling transactions and managing stock

A positive attitude, willingness to learn and adaptability to changing store needs

Ability to work calmly under pressure during busy trading periods
