Job summary

WMS Industrial Gas & Equipment Sdn Bhd is seeking a qualified SHEQ professional to implement, monitor, and improve plant safety, health, environment, and quality systems in a manufacturing setting in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. The role involves ensuring ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 compliance, regulatory liaison, incident investigation, and continuous improvement initiatives.

• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline (Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety & Health)
• Experience implementing, monitoring or maintaining Safety, Health, Environment and Quality management systems
• Basic knowledge of occupational safety, environmental protection, fire prevention and incident management
• Familiarity with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards and their implementation an advantage
• Basic English proficiency; Mandarin-speaking ability is an added advantage
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office for documentation and reporting
• Proactive, responsible and safety-conscious
• Strong sense of ownership, discipline and accountability

Responsibilities

• SHEQ System Implementation & Compliance: Implement, maintain and monitor plant SHEQ systems per company and ISO standards
• Safety Monitoring & Risk Prevention: Monitor SHEQ compliance across plant operations and contractors, identify hazards and recommend corrective actions
• Emergency Preparedness & Incident Management: Support fire safety, PPE, first aid and emergency response readiness and report incidents
• Environmental & Quality Management: Support environmental and quality management activities and coordinate corrective actions
• Regulatory Compliance & Government Liaison: Liaise with authorities on inspections, permits and regulatory reporting
• SHEQ Training & Awareness: Organize and conduct training to ensure understanding of policies and safe work practices
• PPE & First-Aid Supplies Management: Manage PPE, medicines and first-aid supplies including stock and procurement
• SHEQ Documentation & Reporting: Maintain records and prepare periodic SHEQ reports for authorities and management
• Continuous Improvement & Other Duties: Identify opportunities to improve SHEQ performance and support projects as assigned by management

Job description

SHEQ System Implementation & Compliance: Implement, maintain and monitor plant SHEQ systems in compliance with company requirements, legal regulations and ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 standards.

Safety Monitoring & Risk Prevention: Monitor SHEQ compliance across plant operations, projects, contractors and customer sites. Conduct inspections, identify hazards and unsafe conditions, recommend corrective and preventive actions, and ensure timely follow-up to prevent accidents and incidents.

Emergency Preparedness & Incident Management: Monitor fire safety systems, firefighting equipment, PPE, first aid and emergency response readiness. Assist in investigating and reporting accidents, incidents and near misses, and follow up on corrective and preventive actions.

Environmental & Quality Management: Support environmental and quality management activities to ensure compliance with relevant standards, permits and procedures. Identify non-conformities and coordinate corrective actions with relevant departments.

Regulatory Compliance & Government Liaison: Liaise with government authorities and Industrial Park Management on SHEQ matters, including inspections, permits, certificates and regulatory reporting. Ensure timely submission and compliance with statutory requirements.

SHEQ Training & Awareness: Organize and conduct SHEQ training and awareness programmes for employees, contractors and relevant parties to ensure understanding and compliance with company policies, procedures and safe work practices.

PPE & First-Aid Supplies Management: Manage PPE, medicines and first-aid supplies, including inspection, storage, stock monitoring and replenishment. Ensure adequate stock levels and timely procurement in accordance with company requirements.

SHEQ Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate SHEQ records, inspection reports, training records, incident documentation, and relevant ISO management system documents. Prepare and submit periodic and ad hoc SHEQ reports to relevant government authorities and SHEQ management as required.

Continuous Improvement & Other Duties: Identify opportunities to improve SHEQ performance, promote a proactive safety culture, and support SHEQ projects and initiatives as assigned by the Dung Quat SHEQ Manager or SHEQ Management.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Environmental Science, Occupational Safety and Health, or a related technical discipline.

Experience in implementing, monitoring, or maintaining Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality management systems, preferably in an industrial or manufacturing environment.

Basic knowledge of occupational safety, environmental protection, fire prevention and firefighting, incident management, and relevant legal requirements.

Familiarity with ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and ISO 9001 standards and their implementation is an advantage.

Basic English proficiency. Mandarin-speaking ability is an added advantage.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for documentation and reporting.
