The Service / Kitchen Crew supports daily café operations by performing both front-of-house customer service and back-of-house food preparation. The role focuses on greeting and serving customers, preparing food and beverages to café standards, maintaining cleanliness and hygiene, handling inventory tasks, and ensuring smooth, efficient service to deliver quality customer experiences.
Job Requirements
- Assist in the preparation of food and beverages according to café standards
- Follow standard recipes and preparation procedures consistently
- Customer Service & Table Maintenance
- Greet and serve customers courteously, ensuring a pleasant dining experience
- Take customer orders accurately and relay them promptly to the kitchen/counter
- Serve food and beverages to customers’ tables in a timely manner
- Clear, wipe and reset tables promptly after each use to maintain a clean dining area
- Ensure the dining area, condiment stations and seating are kept clean, tidy and well-stocked
- Attend to customer requests and address minor concerns, escalating to a supervisor when necessary
- Cleanliness & Hygiene
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen, preparation areas, storage areas and equipment
- Wash dishes, utensils and kitchen tools promptly
- Comply with food safety, hygiene and sanitation regulations at all times
- Inventory & Stock Handling
- Assist with stock rotation and proper storage of ingredients
- Report low stock levels or expired items to supervisors promptly
- Operational Support
- Assist other stations during peak periods or manpower shortages when required
- Support basic operational tasks to ensure a smooth service flow
- Ensure core BOH responsibilities are completed before assisting other stations
- Report to work on time and adhere to assigned schedules
- Follow company policies, procedures and workplace rules
- Maintain punctuality, professionalism and effective teamwork at all times
- Demonstrate flexibility and responsiveness to operational needs
- Avoid a task-limited mindset and contribute positively to overall café operations
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Minimum SPM / high school qualification or equivalent
- Prior experience in a food & beverage or kitchen environment is an advantage but not required — on-the-job training provided
- Basic knowledge of food hygiene and safety practices; a food handling certificate is a plus
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays as required
