Job summary

Eaton Corporation, based in Malaysia, Selangor, is seeking a Service Engineer to install, test and commission electrical systems and power quality equipment at client sites. The role requires hands-on field service, fault diagnosis and a willingness to join a 24x7 on-call rotation.

You will handle preventive maintenance, on-site repairs, and collaborate with design, sales and product teams to drive service quality and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Mechatronic or related Engineering field.
• Minimum 3 years of field service or testing experience with UPS, switchgear, transformers, RMU or ACB.
• Ability to assemble, evaluate, test, and maintain electrical wiring and equipment.
• Reads and interprets diagrams of transformers, switchgear, UPS.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in electrical systems.

What you’ll do:

• A. Install, test and commission electrical systems and power quality equipment at client locations.
• B. Conduct routine preventive maintenance on electrical systems to identify and address potential issues.
• C. Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical system failures or malfunctions, and define a work plan to rectify or repair.
• D. Perform onsite equipment repairs, modifications and engineering change upgrades during a breakdown or warranty claim.
• E. Be available for 24x7 on-call support through a rotational duty schedule to address urgent issues outside regular working hours.
• F. Maintain personal and company work tooling, ensuring 100% availability.
• G. Ensure adequate records and systems are maintained; maintain communication with design management and specialists in resolving technical problems, or bring problems to the design department's attention.
• H. Act as the single point of contact for specific service contracts, interfacing into the customer organization while working with the sales prime to drive additional sales in those contracts (including 24x7).
• I. Be accountable for the customer relationship and deliver best-in-class service that drives service quality to new heights.
• J. Provide timely, professional, accurate and service-oriented response to all technical service enquiries.
• K. Identify and isolate equipment start-up malfunctions and take corrective action.
• L. Deliver on-the-job training for customer personnel and possibly dealers in equipment operation and maintenance responsibilities.
• M. Represent the company in a customer support role and be responsible for customer satisfaction with equipment and servicing.
• N. Prepare daily logs and reports of work performed; implement and control workflow documents and maintain proper practices to keep track of these documents.
• O. Analyse and advise on customers' existing equipment status and recommend replacement or overhaul schedules, interfacing effectively with customers both internally and externally.
• P. Analyse complex engineering problems and offer effective resolutions.
• Q. Interact with all engineering disciplines, project engineers and clients, and collaborate with cross-functional teams within Engineering, Sales and Product.
• G. To be committed & responsible for Quality Management System:

  • b. Provide the necessary support to fully implement and sustain the QMS
  • c. Communicating to the organization the importance of conforming to QMS requirements
  • d. Ensuring the QMS meets its goals

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Electrical, Mechatronic or similar Engineering discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of field service or testing experience with electrical equipment such as UPS, switchgear, transformers, RMU or ACB.
• Candidates with 1-3 years of relevant experience may be considered at the lower end of the band.
• Ability to assemble, evaluate, test, and maintain electrical or electronic wiring, equipment, and appliances.
• Reads and interprets diagrams of transformers, switchgear, UPS, etc.
• Troubleshoot system failure or errors and define a work plan to rectify or repair.
• Operate with confidence electrical instrumentation such as multimeters, clamp meters, scope meters, insulation meters and resistance meters.
• Possess knowledge of Eaton products, markets, channels and associated applications.
• Understanding of selling techniques and Eaton's capabilities to support pre-sale through post-sale activity.
