Job summary

Quectel in Penang, Malaysia seeks a hardware design engineer to lead end-to-end development for 2G/3G/4G/5G cellular modules and PCBA projects. You will mentor junior engineers, drive root-cause analyses, and implement corrective actions to improve yield and reliability.

The role requires a 3+ year track record in wireless hardware design, familiarity with analog/digital circuits, and strong English and Mandarin communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics/Communication/Microwave or equivalent.
• At least 3 years design experience of 2G/3G/4G/5G/GPS module wireless communication products or related electronic products.
• Familiar with various electronic components and related test instruments.
• Familiar with analog and digital circuits; SCM hardware/software design experience is preferred.
• Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Mandarin.

Responsibilities

• Lead the end-to-end hardware design (Schematic, PCB layout, stack-up) for complex 2G/3G/4G/5G cellular modules and PCBA projects, ensuring designs meet cost, schedule, and performance targets.
• Review and approve hardware designs of junior engineers; provide technical mentorship to foster team capability and ensure design best practices.
• Lead technical root-cause analysis for complex failures in customer production lines and mass production, driving yield improvement, reliability enhancement, and cost reduction initiatives.
• Drive root-cause analysis (RCA) and implement robust corrective actions for critical design flaws.
• Other duties as assigned by the management/team lead
