Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal OHL Engineer to join our Transmission & Distribution team in Kuala Lumpur. You will lead and deliver technically challenging overhead line design projects up to 400kV, providing expert support across engineering disciplines and ensuring compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Structural, Mechanical, or Electrical) is essential.
• Experience delivering projects for transmission system operators such as National Grid, SSE and SPT in line with each operator’s standards.
• Project experience in overhead line engineering (ideally up to 400kV).
• Chartered or Professional Engineer status (or working towards it) is preferred.
• Proven ability to coordinate across disciplines and review detailed technical outputs to a high standard.

Responsibilities

• Provide project technical support for overhead transmission line design projects up to 400kV.
• Lead design activities including PLS-CADD modelling, line routing, structural analysis, and sag-tension calculations.
• Support feasibility studies, conductor thermal ratings, and regulatory compliance.
• Coordinate across disciplines and review engineering deliverables, reports and drawings.
• Perform internal quality checks of engineering drawings and calculations.
• Assist in proposals, timelines, resources, budgets and client communications.
