Job summary

Wood is seeking a Senior Technical Safety Engineer to join our Malaysia team for FEED and EPC/EPCM projects in the offshore oil and gas sector. The role focuses on process safety, fire protection, risk assessments and safety case deliverables within greenfield and brownfield contexts in a major redevelopment program.

You will work with multidisciplinary teams, mentor junior engineers and uphold Wood’s safety standards and values across the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Experience in process safety studies (HAZOP, LOPA, SIL, QRA, PCS, Safety Case) and compliance with relevant codes.
• Demonstrated ability to apply risk-based decision-making and safety-by-design principles across facility layouts, systems and operations.
• Strong technical report writing, mentoring capabilities and stakeholder management.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Process Safety, Loss Prevention and Fire Protection engineering across Concept, Pre-FEED, FEED and EPC/EPCM phases.
• Apply risk-based decision making and safety-by-design across facilities.
• Facilitate HazID/HazOP, SIL, LOPA, QRA and Safety Case assessments to identify and mitigate risks.
• Develop and review firewater systems, fire & gas detection, firefighting and passive fire protection design.
• Perform and review hydraulic analyses and safety system sizing.
• Provide mentoring to junior engineers and support knowledge sharing within the team.
• Support proposal activities, technical estimates and client engagement while aligning with standards and regulations.
