Omya Group in Malaysia is seeking a skilled Asset Accounting specialist to execute daily B2C asset accounting tasks, including investment orders, capitalization, depreciation, and monthly close. You will ensure accuracy of postings, maintain reconciliations, and support audit readiness as part of a global shared services setup.
In this role you will act as SME for complex postings, drive root-cause analysis, contribute to standardization, and collaborate with Controlling, AP, AR and process
Execute and oversee daily and monthly B2C Asset Accounting operational tasks, including settling investment orders, capitalizing intra-group service charges and own labor costs, and performing planned and unplanned depreciation, ensuring timely and accurate execution
Ensure the accuracy of financial postings, supporting documents, reconciliations, and closing steps related to asset accounting, ensuring alignment with closing calendars and reporting deadlines
Act as the escalation SME for complex asset accounting exceptions related to incorrect postings, mismatches, missing documentation, or unclear account balances; perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions
Identify and monitor (recurring) issues, perform root cause analysis and work with the process management team on the remediation or improvement to prevent recurrence
Escalate structural issues, risks, and recurring defects to the appropriate channels
Contribute as SME to standardization and continuous improvement of B2C Asset Accounting processes and procedures
Work closely with the B2C process management team to ensure continuous improvement of underlying processes
Support the implementation of new or updated work instructions, tools, and systems along the process (e.g., SAP, Trintech - Cadency) including system testing and change management (e.g., end user training)
Document and align with the process management team on the updates required to the standard operating procedures and control matrices to reflect process changes and lessons learned
Collect improvement ideas, contribute to the operational improvement backlog and work with the team lead and the process management team on the prioritization
Participate in pilot activities, testing, and training related to changes impacting the operational line
Ensure accuracy of asset accounting entries (investment orders, capitalizations, depreciation) in accordance with IFRS/GAAP and company policies
Perform reconciliations of asset accounts and sub-ledgers, investigate and resolve variances, and ensure completeness of supporting evidence
Validate asset master data, escalating discrepancies and driving corrective updates
Maintain and test key controls around asset accounting postings and closing activities to support compliance and audits
Support month-end close activities by ensuring all asset accounting items are posted or adequately reconciled for financial reporting
Coach and provide guidance to peers on asset accounting workflows, closing activities and audit readiness
Coordinate with Controlling, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and other finance stakeholders to resolve complex issues and align on the remediation
Serve as primary SME contact for internal stakeholders on asset accounting treatment, capitalization rules and depreciation
Provide clear, timely communication to stakeholders on the status of escalations, corrective actions and process changes
Support internal and external audit requests and ad-hoc queries related to asset accounting.
University degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or related field
Relevant vocational education with significant experience may be considered
3–5 years of experience in asset accounting, B2C operations, month-end closing, or related financial operations, preferably in a global shared services organization
Experience working with accounting and closing systems (e.g., SAP, Trintech - Cadency) and performing reconciliations
Experience performing root-cause analysis and supporting system/process improvement initiatives, including change management (i.e., end user training)
