Job summary

Founder Energy Sdn Bhd is seeking a Senior Solar Design Engineer to lead the technical design and engineering of Large Scale Solar (LSS) PV projects across Malaysia.

You will perform feasibility assessments, create PV layouts and SLDs, run energy yield simulations with PVsyst, and ensure designs meet local regulations and grid requirements. The role demands 5+ years in solar PV design and proficiency in PVsyst and AutoCAD, with strong coordination and independent work abilities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Renewable Energy or related discipline.
• Minimum 5 years of relevant engineering experience in solar PV design or related engineering work.
• Experience in Large Scale Solar (LSS) projects is essential.
• Proficient in PVsyst, AutoCAD and other relevant solar design tools.
• Strong understanding of solar PV system design, energy yield analysis, electrical engineering principles and grid connection requirements.
• Familiarity with Malaysian solar industry regulations and relevant authority approval processes.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and coordination skills.
• Able to work independently, manage multiple assignments and meet project deadlines.

Responsibilities

• Perform technical design and engineering for Large Scale Solar (LSS) PV projects, from feasibility assessment to detailed design.
• Conduct site assessments and evaluate project feasibility, site conditions and design constraints.
• Prepare engineering drawings, PV layouts, single-line diagrams (SLDs), schematics and technical specifications.
• Perform energy yield simulations, shading analysis and system optimisation using PVsyst.
• Select and evaluate solar modules, inverters, mounting structures and other system components.
• Ensure designs comply with applicable Malaysian regulatory requirements, utility standards, grid connection requirements and project specifications.
• Coordinate with Project, Procurement, Construction and other internal teams to ensure design alignment with project requirements, budgets and timelines.
• Provide technical support during construction, installation, testing and commissioning.
• Troubleshoot design-related issues and recommend practical engineering solutions.
• Review technical documents, equipment specifications and design deliverables to ensure accuracy, quality and constructability.
