Job summary

SOLS Energy Sdn Bhd is seeking a Solar Engineer to own the technical design of assigned solar projects, from layouts to BOM accuracy and PE submissions. You will troubleshoot, perform site and drone inspections, and ensure designs meet safety standards while coordinating with cross-functional teams.

The role focuses on residential and commercial solar systems, with a 48-hour design turnaround target and proactive problem solving to protect system quality and company credibility.

Qualifications

• Diploma or Degree in Electrical, Electronics, or Renewable Energy Engineering (or a closely related field).
• Working knowledge of solar PV design principles: system sizing, string configuration, cable sizing, and layout optimisation.
• Proficiency with PVSyst (or equivalent solar design software) and AutoCAD or similar drafting tools.
• Understanding of relevant Malaysian electrical and solar installation standards and safety requirements.
• Strong troubleshooting and root-cause analysis skills, with the ability to diagnose underperforming or faulty systems.
• Comfortable conducting site visits and working with field-collected data (drone imagery, site photos, structural notes).

Responsibilities

• Prepare accurate roof layouts, SLDs, and PE drawings for residential and commercial solar projects, with 48-hour turnaround.
• Perform system sizing, string configuration, and cable sizing calculations for safe, optimal design.
• Run PVSyst simulations and validate design assumptions before layouts are finalised.
• Ensure BOM accuracy to prevent sizing errors and rework at installation.
• Provide technical inputs to support PE submissions and comply with safety standards.
• Investigate and resolve customer-reported technical issues with first response within 1 working day and full resolution within 1 week.
• Conduct root cause analysis for underperforming or faulty systems and classify system health.
• Recommend and execute repair approaches, escalating high-impact cases to Technical Manager.
• Monitor live systems for alarms, prioritising subscription clients to minimise downtime.
• Log all issues and resolutions in HubSpot promptly.
• Conduct site visits and drone inspections to verify installation quality and performance.
• Perform final technical reviews prior to installation when required.
• Document site findings in HubSpot with proper ownership tagging.
• Maintain organised, up-to-date drawings and CDR files in Dropbox for every project.
• Update property records and task statuses in HubSpot as layouts/SLDs are completed.
• Review daily dashboard to ensure no pending tasks.
