Job summary

The GMP Group in Malaysia is seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to manage project costs, contracts, and commercial matters, ensuring delivery within budget and contractual requirements.

You will provide leadership across project lifecycles, perform cost analyses, prepare budgets, and supervise tendering, valuations, and payments, with site visits required.

This role offers strong growth in a dynamic construction environment with exposure to varied sectors.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in Quantity Surveying.
  • Preferably in Construction/ Oil & Gas/ Engineering/ IT or related industry.
  • 5 days week job.

Responsibilities

  • Manage payment processes, tracking bills, PO, claims, milestone achievements and preventing budget overruns through effective budget management.
  • Costing analysis, details breakdown and alternative solutions for tender stage and construction stage.
  • Led dispute solution through negotiations, identifying and mitigating potential issue to ensure uninterrupted project execution.
  • Contractual management related to LoA, NoD, VO, EOT etc. able to provide details option and tracking and update to superior.
  • Manage pre and post contracts, upstream and downstream contractual matters.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and budgets for construction projects.
  • Monitor project costs and ensure they align with budgets.
  • Conduct cost analysis and recommend cost-saving measures.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers.
  • Ensure all contractual obligations are met and manage contract variations.
  • Resolve contractual disputes and manage claims.
  • Prepare regular financial reports, including cost forecasts and cash flow projections.
  • Conduct financial risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Present financial status and cost control measures to senior management and stakeholders.
  • Required to travel to project sites for site valuation, measurement, progress verification, and coordination purposes.
  • Lead the tendering process, including the preparation of tender documents and evaluation of bids.
  • Negotiate terms and conditions with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Ensure procurement processes comply with company policies and industry standards.
  • Conduct valuations of work completed and prepare interim and final payment applications.
  • Verify and process subcontractor and supplier payments.
  • Ensure timely and accurate billing to clients.
  • Any ad hoc task assigns by management from time to time.
