Job summary

Gradiant is seeking a Senior QA & QC Engineer to lead day-to-day quality assurance for EPC projects. You will coordinate inspections, non-conformance follow-ups and documentation with project teams, clients, and vendors.

You will review drawings, implement ITPs, and manage NCRs while ensuring compliance with codes and safety standards. Strong inspection coordination and communication skills are essential for timely project delivery in Penang, Malaysia.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical, civil/structural engineering or related discipline.
• QA/QC, welding inspection or NDT certification is an advantage.
• Knowledge of quality management systems, inspection and test plans, construction quality procedures, and applicable codes/standards.
• Understanding of piping fabrication, welding and testing requirements is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Carry out site and workshop inspections per procedures, specs and drawings.
• Verify workmanship and inspected items meet project requirements (ITPs, QCPs).
• Review drawings, documents and inspection requirements; coordinate resolutions with the project team.
• Perform material inspections; verify identifications, certificates and delivery records.
• Conduct fit-up, visual and other inspections for piping, welding, structural and mechanical works.
• Prepare and submit RFIs and coordinate witness/hold-point inspections.
• Monitor NDE/NDT status and maintain relevant registers.
• Review pressure-test packs, weld summaries, material summaries and related inspection records.
• Maintain drawings and quality records (inspection reports, test results, certificates).
• Identify, document and report non-conformances; assist in corrective actions.
• Support quality audits, surveillance and quality walks; track corrective actions.
• Verify measuring/testing equipment calibration status and records.
• Coordinate with clients, consultants, vendors and inspectors on schedules and documentation requirements.
• Conduct quality briefings/orientation for project personnel and subcontractors.
• Monitor subcontractor and vendor work quality; escalate issues to QA/QC Manager.
• Ensure quality activities align with site schedules to minimise rework and delays.
• Comply with HSE requirements and attend safety briefings; report unsafe conditions.
• Prepare quality progress reports and project quality dossiers for review and submission.
