Job summary

VAT GROUP is seeking a Process Engineer to join the Sustaining Engineering Team in Penang, Malaysia. You will oversee simulation studies, evaluations, rework, FPY and abort rate monitoring, 8D, and handle customer and internal complaints.

The role involves standardizing production lines, training supervisors and assemblers, and supporting daily management tasks. You will develop and maintain assembly process standards, work instructions and documentation, and collaborate with global process

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical assembly, process development or related areas.
  • Excellent English and communication skills.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, sustain and improve assembly and testing processes in cleanroom environments.
  • Conduct DOE experiments to optimize yields and reliability.
  • Support NPI feasibility studies and establish assembly processes for new products.
  • Standardize work instructions, process flow and documentation.
  • Mentor and coach junior staff to improve procedures and efficiency.
  • Lead PFMEA activities to identify risks and preventive actions.
  • Engage in problem-solving and implement corrective actions with production/engineering teams.

Job description

We are looking for a Process Engineer for Sustaining Engineering Team in daily follow up at production line related to simulation study, evaluation, rework, FPY & abort rate monitoring, 8D, customer and internal complaint, improvement activities and standardize the production line.

Roles, Responsibilities and Job Expectations
  • Manage, sustain and improve operational or production relevant processes in assembly cleanroom, covering assembly and End-of-Line testing of modules / valves / actuators / other components, and preparation / treatment of O-rings.
  • Conducting experiments (DOE)
  • Support production in the improvement initiative for Yield, Quality, Cycle time, etc.
  • Standardize assembly process in method and documentation: Work Instructions, checklists.
  • Established troubleshooting process for rework or products know how.
  • Verify correct process variables for production (i.e. materials, machine set points, tool, jig fixtures, etc.)
  • Support NPI for new product feasibility study to develop and establish assembly process.
  • Mentoring/ Coaching to enhance assembler skills towards setup/simplify working procedure.
  • Solves problems of more complexity.
  • Integrates thorough technical knowledge.
  • Actively engage and support in change management related topic and execution.
  • Actively contribute in PFMEA to analyse quality risks and define preventive and detective actions to mitigate. them.
  • Engage in problem solving activities, implement corrective actions and effectively communicate those actions to all required personnel.
  • Conduct training for Production supervisor / leader / assemblers in the use and applications of various assembly tools and processes.
  • Develop and maintain assembly process standards and documentation: Work instructions and process flow.
  • Be the subject matter expert for assembly and test processes, in alignment with global process engineering team in headquarter.
  • Support daily tasks as given by Management from time to time.
  • Support cross-functional team initiatives to continuously improve assembly lines cycle time and efficiency to increase yield and productivity.
  • Engage in problem solving activities, implement corrective actions and effectively communicate those actions to all required production and engineering personnel.
  • 5 years of experience in Mechanical Assembly industry (Process Development / Leak Testing / Cleaning / Cleanroom Assembly).
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Manufacturing or related field with a strong relevant technical background
  • Proficient in English/having good communication.
Preferred Qualification:
  • Prefer 8 years of experience in Mechanical Assembly industry (Process Development / Leak Testing / Cleaning / Cleanroom Assembly).
  • Pro-active, Organized, good team player and customer-oriented
  • Strong organization, time management, planning skills and ability to manage multiple tasks with tight deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, experienced in leading cross-functional teams
  • Organized, self-driven & -dependent, and result- & customer-oriented
  • Experience in vacuum valve industry and equipment manufacturing assembly process.
  • Experienced in PFMEA (Process Failure Mode Effect and Analysis) and process know how.
