Job summary

Flex is seeking a Process Development Engineering Manager in Prai, Penang to lead a team of process engineers, advancing capabilities and driving cost- and time-efficient manufacturing solutions. The role centers on DOE, process optimization, and cross‑functional collaboration across sites.

You will guide technology development, qualification, and deployment, ensuring best-in-class manufacturing outcomes while fostering strong internal and external relationships.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience/training.
• Master’s or MBA degree preferred.
• Minimum 8 years of experience in PCBA manufacturing, including SMT, wave soldering, and backend process development.
• Strong technical expertise in new component package and soldering chemistry qualifications, with hands‑on experience in DOE and statistical data analysis tools.
• Ability to provide technical leadership in new technology development, qualification, and deployment into operations to deliver best‑in‑class manufacturing and technology solutions across diverse teams and sites.
• Demonstrated technical, communication, and people management skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external customers.

Responsibilities

• Manage a team of engineers and technicians to establish and maintain statistical process control systems.
• Establish and improve process capabilities.
• Develop and maintain process documentation.
• Manage development projects to meet customer specs, delivery, and cost expectations.
• Collaborate with engineering to design manufacturable products.
• Improve throughput in constrained areas.
• Develop, test, and implement new materials and processes for better performance and cost reduction.
• Coordinate initiatives to increase throughput and reduce cost.
• Implement HR strategies to recruit and retain a qualified workforce.
