Job summary

Beyondsoft Singapore seeks a seasoned Pre-Sales Engineer to drive data migration projects for financial clients across Southeast Asia. You will lead requirement discovery, design migration strategies and conduct technical workshops and POC activities.

Responsibilities include presenting solutions to C-level stakeholders, enabling overseas teams, and developing standardised migration methodologies. Strong English skills and banking domain knowledge are essential.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Presales Technical Support: Deliver presales technical support for data migration projects targeting financial clients, covering requirement discovery, solution design, workshops, POC organisation and full-cycle bidding activities.
• Migration Solution Design: Design end-to-end migration plans for scenarios migrating from legacy databases to target databases such as Cloud SQL, Aurora, AlloyDB, or cloud data platforms.
• Client Communication & Reporting: Present technical solutions and conduct executive-level communications for financial clients in SEA and mainland China.
• Overseas Business Enablement: Support financial data migration projects in SEA and act as technical liaison for overseas client teams and decision-makers.
• Methodology Development: Summarise best practices, build standardised migration methodologies, whitepapers and presales toolkits.
• Collaboration & Enablement: Work with sales, product and delivery teams; deliver internal training and capability building on data migration.

Job description

• Provide presales support for banking and financial clients in overseas and Southeast Asian markets. Liaise closely with local banks and financial institutions to accurately identify business and technical requirements.
• Develop customised solutions, technical whitepapers, project proposals and bidding documents in compliance with client requirements, based on local banking regulatory policies, banking business scenarios, payment ecosystems, and retail & corporate banking workflows across overseas and Southeast Asia.
• Collaborate with sales teams throughout the full presales lifecycle including client visits, solution presentations, product demos, POC testing and technical Q&A sessions as well as C-level engagements, to drive regional deal closure.
• Track fintech industry trends, digital transformation roadmaps of banks and competitor developments in Southeast Asia, and continuously optimise solution design and product adaptability.
• Own end-to-end technical support for bidding activities, including bid response drafting, solution defence and technical clarification; capable of independently addressing client technical enquiries in English.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Finance, Computer Science, Information Technology, Economics or related disciplines.
• Working proficiency in both Chinese and English with fluent listening, speaking, reading and writing skills. Able to deliver solution presentations, client communications, document writing and business negotiations entirely in English without language barriers.
• Minimum 3 years of presales experience in the finance/banking sector. Prior banking business knowledge is preferred, with hands-on experience in current-state assessment of data platforms, workloads, integration interfaces, security governance and operational dependencies.
• Familiarity with the Southeast Asian (SEA) financial market, banking landscape, regulatory frameworks and local business practices. Candidates with prior client service experience at banks in Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia and other SEA markets are highly preferred.
• Excellent competency in proposal writing, requirement analysis and public presentation; adept at capturing client requirements and designing customised solutions.
• Strong cross-regional communication and coordination skills, resilience under pressure and business acumen; willing to take short-term business trips within Southeast Asia and overseas markets.
• Prior experience in presales at fintech firms, banking IT vendors, payment technology companies or overseas enterprise service providers is preferred.

Migration Solution Design: Design end-to-end migration plans for scenarios where clients migrate from legacy databases (Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, MySQL, etc.) to target databases such as Cloud SQL, Amazon Aurora, Google AlloyDB, distributed databases or cloud data platforms. Scope includes assessment & discovery, architecture design, migration strategy, data validation and business cutover.

Client Communication & Reporting: Present technical solutions and conduct executive-level communications for financial clients in Southeast Asia and mainland China. Translate technical details into tangible business value to align with client business needs and technical pain points.

Overseas Business Enablement: Focus on supporting financial data migration projects in Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam, etc.) and act as the primary technical liaison for overseas client technical teams and decision-makers.

Methodology Development: Summarise best practices across heterogeneous database migration scenarios, build standardised migration methodologies, technical whitepapers and presales toolkits to empower sales and delivery teams.

Collaboration & Enablement: Work closely with sales, product and delivery teams to identify latent client demands and drive product capability evolution. Deliver internal technical training and capability building on data migration.

Job Requirements

Mandatory Criteria

Work Experience: 5+ years of IT working experience, with at least 3 years in data migration (presales or delivery) and 2+ years serving financial industry clients.

Education: Full-time Bachelor’s degree or above, preferably in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology or related majors.

Project Experience:

• Hands-on delivery of 2+ completed heterogeneous database migration projects (e.g. Oracle→PostgreSQL, DB2→MySQL, SQL Server→Cloud SQL) with full lifecycle exposure to migration workflows.
• Experience in large-scale TB/PB-level data migration projects is preferred.
• Core system migration experience in financial industries (banking, securities, insurance) is preferred.
• Experience in domestic IT infrastructure replacement projects (e.g. Oracle→GaussDB, OceanBase, TDSQL, etc.) is preferred.
• Proficient in at least 2 mainstream databases (Oracle, DB2, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with cloud managed database services (AWS RDS/Aurora, Google AlloyDB/Cloud SQL, Azure SQL) is preferred.
• Understanding of the principles and applicable scenarios of mainstream migration tools (AWS DMS, Google Database Migration Service, OGG, DataX, Kettle, etc.).
• In-depth knowledge of database internals including storage engines, execution plans, logging mechanisms and locking.
• Solid grasp of data migration methodologies covering assessment & discovery, migration strategy design, data validation and business cutover.
• Proven ability to independently draft technical proposals, bid documents and technical whitepapers.
• Track record of presenting solutions and answering technical queries to client C-level stakeholders (CTO/CIO).
• Practical experience organising and executing POCs (Proof of Concept).

Language Requirement (Critical)

English: Fluent English communication skills for technical presentations, client briefings, email correspondence and technical documentation writing. Candidates with overseas study or corporate experience in multinational organisations are preferred.

Preferred Qualifications

• Certifications for database services from leading cloud vendors (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
• Certifications and migration experience with domestic databases including GaussDB, OceanBase, TDSQL.
• Experience serving Southeast Asian financial clients or overseas postings.
• Experience in self-development or secondary development of data migration tools.
