Job summary

UST is seeking a hands-on Senior Software Engineer in Kuala Lumpur to own end-to-end development across PHP, React.js, and cloud services. You will design, implement, test, and deploy scalable solutions, leveraging Laravel/CodeIgniter, Python, Linux/Nginx, and modern SDLC practices.

Strong focus on secure coding and GenAI/LLM-enabled engineering. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with REST APIs, CI/CD, and automated testing using Selenium/Puppeteer/Playwright, delivering reliable

• 5+ years of software programming and application design.

Role Description

The ideal candidate is a hands-on Senior Software Engineer with strong PHP + React.js + MySQL + AWS experience, complemented by solid knowledge of Laravel/CodeIgniter, Python, Linux/Nginx, automated testing, secure SDLC practices, and modern GenAI/LLM engineering. They should be capable of taking ownership from requirements analysis and solution design through development, testing, deployment, and production support.

Required Technical Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of professional experience in software programming and application design.
• 5+ years of commercial experience in PHP application development.
• 3+ years of commercial experience with React.js.
• Strong experience in Object-Oriented programming, analysis, design, and development methodologies.
• Strong hands-on experience with at least one major relational database, preferably MySQL; experience with Oracle, SQL Server, or PostgreSQL is also valuable.
• Strong knowledge of Laravel and CodeIgniter frameworks.
• Working knowledge of Python.
• Hands-on experience with AWS Cloud services and cloud-based application development/deployment.
• Good knowledge of Linux environments and Nginx.
• Experience with automated testing and browser automation frameworks such as:

  • Playwright
• Experience developing and integrating REST APIs/services and customer-facing or internal applications.
• Understanding of secure coding, application security, privacy, SDLC controls, CI/CD, and software engineering best practices.
