Job summary

GME Carbon Sdn. Bhd. seeks a Senior Operations Manager to lead operations in Ulu Tiram, Johor. Oversee Manufacturing, CNC Machining, Maintenance, Quality, Planning, and Logistics to achieve targets with a focus on efficiency, safety, and profitability.

You will drive lean initiatives, manage a < 100 employee workforce, implement ISO standards, and partner with customers to meet delivery requirements, while shaping strategic growth and cost-control efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher in a related field; MBA advantage.
• 5+ years in operations management in CNC/graphite metal solutions.
• Proven track record leading large-scale manufacturing operations.
• Strong knowledge of lean, Six Sigma or CI methodologies.
• Understanding of HSE regulations and safety best practices.
• Ability to develop and implement operational strategies for efficiency and profitability.

Seeking an experienced Senior Operations Manager to lead and oversee our operations in Ulu Tiram, Johor. This is a full-time position that plays a critical role in ensuring the efficient, safe and profitable operation of our manufacturing and logistics facilities. As Senior Operations Manager, you will be responsible for managing daily operations, optimizing processes, output, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the organization. This role offers the opportunity to make a significant strategic impact on our operational performance and contribute to the company's growth objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Manufacturing & Operations Leadership

Lead and manage all manufacturing operations to achieve production, quality, and delivery targets.

Oversee Production, CNC Machining, Engineering, Maintenance, Quality Assurance, Planning, Warehouse, Purchasing, and Logistics departments.

Ensure efficient utilization of manpower, machinery, materials, and production resources.

Drive operational excellence across all manufacturing processes.

CNC Machining & Production Management

Possess strong knowledge of CNC Milling, CNC Turning, Precision Machining, Metal Fabrication, and Manufacturing Processes.

Monitor machine utilization, production efficiency, cycle time, setup time, and overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).

Ensure optimum scheduling and production planning to maximize machine capacity.

Work closely with engineering and production teams to improve machining processes and productivity.

Support troubleshooting of complex manufacturing and machining challenges.

Lead Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen, 5S, ISO standards and Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Identify opportunities for productivity improvement, waste reduction, and cost savings.

Analyze production data and implement process improvements to enhance operational performance.

Drive automation and manufacturing technology improvements where applicable.

Leadership & Team Management

Lead, coach, and develop department managers, supervisors, and team leaders.

Manage and motivate a workforce of below 100 employees.

Establish clear KPIs and performance objectives across departments.

Foster a culture of accountability, teamwork, discipline, and continuous learning.

Quality Management & Customer Satisfaction

Ensure compliance ISO standards with quality standards and customer specifications.

Lead quality improvement initiatives and corrective action programs.

Support customer audits, supplier audits, and quality system requirements.

Work closely with customers to address operational and delivery requirements.

Strategic Planning & Business Growth

Develop operational strategies aligned with company objectives.

Participate in budgeting, forecasting, capacity planning, and business expansion initiatives.

Monitor operational costs and implement effective cost-control measures.

Support new project implementation and production ramp-up activities.

Safety & Compliance

Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and statutory requirements.

Promote a safe working environment and strong safety culture throughout the organization.

What we're looking for

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Engineering, Manufacturing, or related discipline

(MBA or equivalent management qualification is an advantage)

Minimum 5 years of operations management experience within the CNC, precision graphite, and refractory metal solutions manufacturing industries, with proven knowledge of industry processes and practices

Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale operations and leading teams.

Strong knowledge of lean manufacturing, Six Sigma or other continuous improvement methodologies

Excellent understanding of health, safety and environmental (HSE) regulations and best practices

Demonstrated ability to develop and implement operational strategies that drive efficiency and profitability

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make data-driven decisions

Proficiency in operations management software and ERP systems

Proficiency in English, Mandarin (both spoken and written) and Bahasa Melayu, effectively communicate with Mandarin-speaking customers, clients, and business partners as part of the role's daily responsibilities.

Open to candidates who meet the requirements and are willing to relocate to Ulu Tiram, Johor.
