Private Advertiser seeks an experienced NPI engineer in Penang to lead end-to-end projects from quotation support through production handover. Review drawings, BOMs, specs, and perform DFM/DFA evaluations and risk assessments.
You will drive RFQ feasibility, cost estimation, ECO tracking, and maintain NPI records while steering Lean/Kaizen initiatives and ensuring compliance with ISO 9001/IATF 16949 and customer guidelines.
This role involves direct end-to-end NPI project leadership spanning quotation support, prototype/first article builds, pilot runs, and seamless production handover. You will review client drawings, engineering specifications, Bill of Materials (BOM), and technical requirements; execute DFM/DFA evaluations and risk assessments. You will act as the key technical liaison for customer interactions and assist in RFQ feasibility assessments, cost estimation, and Engineering Change Order (ECO/ECN) tracking.
Direct end-to-end NPI projects spanning quotation support, prototype/first article builds, pilot runs, and seamless production handover
Review client drawings, engineering specifications, Bill of Materials (BOM), and technical requirements; execute DFM/DFA evaluations and risk assessments
Act as the key technical liaison for customer interactions; assist in RFQ feasibility assessments, cost estimation, and Engineering Change Order (ECO/ECN) tracking
Formulate and control essential NPI records: Process Flow Diagrams, Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), Work Instructions (WI), Travelers, PFMEAs, Control Plans, and Qualification Reports
Oversee process validation and process capability studies (Cp/Cpk) across key operations: crimping, soldering, wire stripping/cutting, terminal insertion, overmolding, potting, labeling, and electrical testing
Conceptualize, develop, and validate custom assembly/crimp/testing fixtures, jigs, workstations, and tooling prior to mass production release
Spearhead Lean/Kaizen and Poka-Yoke projects to improve productivity, First Pass Yield (FPY), Right First Time (RFT), OEE, cycle times, and material usage via Value Engineering (VE/VA)
Control engineering documentation in full alignment with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, IPC/WHMA-A-620, UL, and customer-specific guidelines
Coach and mentor Engineers, Assistant Engineers, and Technicians; facilitate project reviews and technical alignment meetings
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, or Industrial Engineering
Minimum 5–8 years of professional engineering background in Custom Cable Assembly, Wire Harness Manufacturing, Electromechanical Assembly, EMS, or Interconnect Products
Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience leading NPI projects
Prior exposure to multinational clients in industrial, medical, semiconductor, telecommunications, aerospace, or automotive industries is preferred
