Job summary

Altera in Penang, Malaysia, seeks a principal network security engineer/architect to shape and strengthen the security of on‑premises, cloud, and hybrid networks. You will serve as a hands‑on technical lead, guiding architecture decisions and mentorship without people management responsibilities.

You will drive Zero Trust adoption, segmentation, and secure-by-design principles while partnering with cross‑functional teams to translate requirements into robust designs.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in enterprise networking and cybersecurity with large, distributed environments.
• Experience as principal engineer, architect, or senior technical authority for network-security programs.
• Ability to own technical outcomes from discovery to operational transition.

Responsibilities

• Define and evolve the enterprise network security strategy, reference patterns, and roadmap.
• Architect and review secure designs for data center, campus, cloud, WAN, and hybrid environments.
• Provide escalation and guidance during investigations; improve telemetry, detection, and response.
• Author and maintain network security standards, guidelines, and control requirements.
• Collaborate with multiple stakeholder teams to translate security needs into implementable designs.
