Senior Mechanical Engineer – Offshore E&P (KL)

Job summary

ELSA in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Mechanical Engineer for a permanent role in the Oil & Gas sector. You will provide technical input, review designs, and monitor contractor compliance throughout FEED to commissioning stages.

The position requires at least 8 years in E&P, offshore experience, and strong knowledge of rotating equipment. You will supervise contractors, support QA/QC/HSE, and coordinate with the project team during EPCIC delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Minimum 8 years' experience in the E&P industry as a Lead Mechanical Engineer or equivalent.
• Experience in offshore projects (green and brown fields) from Concept Select to detailed engineering.
• Knowledge of compressors, turbo machinery, pumps, motors, generators and other rotating equipment.
• Able to supervise contractors on mechanical matters and support QA/QC and HSE.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical engineering input, review and approval of designs and monitor contractor compliance.
• Lead or support pre-FEED, FEED, detailed design and field development studies.
• Review mechanical designs, drawings, calculations, reports and procedures.
• Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, JRA and other technical integrity reviews.
• Coordinate with project engineer and contractors during EPCIC phase.
• Lead FAT/SAT and support fabrication, commissioning activities.
• Act as Company Site Representative and oversee works by contractors.
• Prepare mechanical specification packages and support procurement and contract establishment.
• Monitor vendor performance against contract and SLA requirements.
• Act as Technical Authority; advise on standards, changes and residual risk.
