Job summary

Avaland Berhad is seeking an experienced design lead to develop and enforce group-wide design standards, guidelines and best practices. You will conduct reviews, audits and compliance checks, and provide independent design advice to business units and design managers to align with established standards.

You will identify recurring design issues and drive preventive improvements, lead R&D on trends and technologies, and push design optimization for function, sustainability and cost effectiveness.

Job description

Develop, maintain and improve Group-wide design standards, guidelines, policies and best practices.

Conduct design reviews, audits and compliance checks to ensure alignment with estalished design standards and requirements.

Provide independent design and technical advice to Business Units and Design Managers, including analysis and recommendation on key design issues.

Identify recurring design issues and translate lessons learnt into preventive measures and improvements for future projects.

Lead research, benchmarking and R&D initiatives on product trends, materials, technologies and emerging design practices.

Drive product innovation and design optimization to improve functionality, sustainability, buildability, maintanability and cost effectiveness.

Develop design tools, checklists and knowledge resources and facilitate sharing of best practices across projects.

Monitor industry and regulatory developments and recommend appropriate updates to design standards and practices.

Prepare design studies, reports and recommendations for management.

Support the Head of Design & Planning on strategic and Group-wide design initiatives.

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor's Degree in Architecture or related built-environment discipline.

Minimum 8 years of relevant experience preferably in property development or architectural consultancy.

Strong knowledge of architectural design, product development and design management.

Strong analytical, critical thinking and problem solving skills.

Able to independently review consultant proposals and provide clear recommendations.

Strong communication, presentation and stakeholder management skills.

Able to manage multiple assignments with minimal supervision.
