Position Overview
The Senior Manager, Commercial is responsible for leading commercial management across multiple projects or a major program within the region, ensuring effective cost control, contract administration, procurement, and commercial risk management across the full project lifecycle.
Operating with a high degree of autonomy, this role is empowered to make informed commercial decisions within defined frameworks, proactively managing risks, resolving complex issues, and driving value outcomes across a portfolio of projects. The Senior Manager is expected to anticipate challenges, influence key stakeholders, and implement solutions that balance cost, schedule, and quality, while aligning with broader business objectives.
Reporting to the Director, Commercial, APAC, the role acts as a critical bridge between regional commercial strategy and on-the-ground execution. It translates strategic priorities into consistent, high-quality delivery outcomes, ensuring that governance, financial performance, and commercial best practices are upheld across projects.
The Senior Manager partners closely with Project Directors, Delivery teams, and cross-functional stakeholders to drive alignment and performance, while also contributing to continuous improvement of commercial processes and capability across APAC. This role requires strong leadership presence, sound commercial judgment, and the ability to operate effectively in a complex, fast-paced, and multi-project environment.
Commercial and Financial Management: Lead commercial oversight across multiple projects or a major campus, ensuring alignment with budget, forecast, and financial targets. Establish and maintain robust cost control processes, including budgeting, commitments, expenditures, and forecasting.
Contract & Commercial Governance: Oversee all contractual and commercial activities across project lifecycles, including procurement, contract administration, variations, and close-out. Evaluate contractual risks and obligations, ensuring compliant, commercially sound outcomes that protect the business and drive value.
Process Improvement & Delivery Excellence: Drive continuous improvement in commercial processes, tools, and reporting. Identify inefficiencies and implement practical enhancements in collaboration with project delivery, legal, and functional stakeholders to improve consistency and performance.
Local Market Delivery: Support and lead commercial activities across projects in the specific market, applying strong knowledge of local market conditions, regulatory requirements, and standard forms of contract. Ensure procurement and commercial strategies are tailored to optimize delivery outcomes, manage local supply chain dynamics, and mitigate market-specific risks.
Commercial Risk & Business Insight: Proactively identify, assess, and manage commercial risks across the portfolio. Provide clear, data-driven insights on cost, risk, and exposure to support decision-making and maintain alignment with business objectives.
Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams, contractors, consultants, and advisors. Communicate commercial risks, opportunities, and mitigation strategies effectively to project teams and senior stakeholders to ensure alignment and informed delivery.
Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
8 years’ experience in commercial / cost management within construction or mission-critical sectors.
Proven experience managing multiple projects or large-scale programs.
Demonstrated ability to lead teams and influence senior stakeholders.
Strong expertise in cost control and financial planning.
Strong expertise in contract administration, including FIDIC, NEC, or local forms of contract.
Strong expertise in procurement and supply chain management.
Experience in APAC markets preferred.
