Job summary

Vantage Data Centers is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to own and drive network operations for large-scale, multi-site environments. The role requires deep expertise in data center networks, LAN/WAN, and security interoperability, with responsibility for leading migrations and ensuring uptime.

You will collaborate across IT and Security teams, develop robust networking standards, and manage complex projects in APAC and globally.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive network engineering experience with global networks.
• Demonstratable CCNP/JNCIP/CCIE/JNCIE level or higher experience.
• Data Center experience is required.
• Fortinet experience would be highly advantageous.
• Strong troubleshooting of LANs (Layer 2) and WAN routing.
• Experience with network migrations and project planning.
• Willingness to participate in on-call rota.
• Travel 5–10% expected.

The Technology & Systems department drives technological innovation for the company and advances the technology strategy to support global growth. This includes IT, Software Development, OT / Automation Systems, and business process improvement. At Vantage, we are very hands on. In most cases, we specify, purchase, configure and maintain all networking and server hardware. We also work closely with partner VARs to learn about the latest technology changes so we can make informed purchase decisions. The Technology & Systems department participates in designing each of our new data center building’s networking infrastructure, including but not limited to diverse pathways connecting to carriers, meet-me room (MMR) hosting (rack, cabs, ladders, cross connect panels…), wireless AP coverage, etc.

We rely on extreme collaboration with Sales, Construction, Operations and Corporate Functions to drive simplification, establish global standards with continuous improvement and speed to value. Position Overview

Vantage is looking for an ambitious, detail-oriented, Senior Network Engineer, that is responsible for network operations and large-scale projects globally. This is an extremely technical role requiring a expert understanding of networking technologies and concepts. This position is accountable for both Operational Excellence and Customer Service. A key responsibility of this position is leading and driving the network activities associated with large scale projects.

Essential Job Functions

Duties

• Collaborate to design, build, and support all networks required for Vantage Corporate, Security Management Systems, Building Management Systems, and other needs as defined by the business, including creation/updating of all supporting documentation

• Create, implement, and support standard processes and procedures to support Service Level Agreements to both Vantage business partners and Vantage customers for network uptime, reliability, service, and performance

• Assist in the specification, ordering, purchasing, asset-tracking, and inventory of network-related equipment/supplies/software

• Maintain the network infrastructure globally, highlighting and recording issues identified, creating action plans to resolve

• Utilize necessary tools to identify and resolve complex issues in a timely manner

• Challenge, report and elevate as necessary to resolve any issues affecting the availability, security or integrity of the network infrastructure

• Work closely with cybersecurity to ensure we are following policies and best practices to secure and harden the network

• Actively research and investigate new tools/technologies to improve the efficiency of the team

• Lead and own large-scale projects by creating effective project plans, leverage internal tools (JIRA etc) to provide accurate and timely updates to stakeholders

• Functions of this position are to be performed in a company-designated office or field location

• Understand and comply with the company’s Acceptable Use Policy and other industry-specific professional and ethical standards, if applicable

Job Requirements

• 12+ years of progressive network engineering experience with multi-site global networks supporting highly transactional and highly sensitive data applications

• Demonstratable CCNP/JNCIP/CCIE/JNCIE level or higher experience required

• Data Center experience is required

• Proficiency with Fortinet would be highly advantageous, but not essential

• Skilled at an expert level troubleshooting LANs (layer 2 networks), fault finding and isolation, understanding of technologies such as Spanning Tree, Port channels, Stacking etc

• Strong experience with layer 3 routing, working with ISP’s to resolve issues such as latency and packet loss

• Strong experience with firewalls, polices, VPN’s, general concepts etc, understanding of advanced inspection and filtering techniques

• Experience working on network migrations, creating project plans, managing multiple projects and delivering according to deadlines

• Proficiency in network design and architecture

• Nice to have: Microsoft Certification: Azure Network Engineering Associates; Azure MCSE: Cloud Platform and Infrastructure

• Participation in an on-call rota would be required

• Travel required is expected to be 5 to 10% but may increase over time as the business evolves.
