Job summary

Manulife Financial is seeking an experienced life insurance underwriter in Malaysia to assess applications up to conferred authority within the agreed Turn Around Time. You will ensure decisions comply with underwriting guidelines and act as a backup for team members while contributing to UAT and projects.

The role includes handling enquiries, preparing reports and SOPs, and taking on ad hoc duties for the HOD in a hybrid work setting.

Qualifications

University degree is preferably in Science, Biomedical Science or Nursing.
At least 8 years of underwriting experience in life insurance.
Excellent technical skills in risk selection while identifying issues and implementing resolutions.
Communication skills; effectively communicates vision, direction and performance.

Responsibilities

Underwrite applications up to conferred authority and per the agreed Turn Around Time (TAT).
Ensure underwriting decisions comply with the company underwriting guideline.
Act as backup for other team members when needed.
Involve and perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and projects.
Handle enquiries within the agreed TAT.
Prepare reports and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
Other administrative duties and duties as assigned by the Head of Department (HOD).
