SME Careers is seeking a Senior Java Engineer for a fully remote, hourly contractor role. You will review AI-generated Java code, architectural solutions, and provide high-quality reference implementations with clear explanations.

Responsibilities include assessing solution accuracy, performance, and design, writing model solutions, and rating AI responses for correctness and reasoning quality. This role supports AI data training and model evaluation on production-like systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or closely related field.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience with substantial Java production work.
• Deep understanding of core Java, concurrency primitives, and the Java Collections Framework.
• Extensive experience building backend services using Spring/Spring Boot, REST APIs, and microservices.
• Strong grasp of software design principles, system design, and performance optimization in distributed Java systems.
• Proficiency in written and spoken English (C1).
• Familiarity with Git, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and containerization.
• Experience conducting thorough code reviews and providing constructive feedback.

Responsibilities

• Develop AI Training Content: create prompts and responses to guide AI learning.
• Evaluate and rank AI responses to improve model accuracy, fluency, and relevance.
• Test AI models for inaccuracies or biases and validate reliability across use cases.
